Measuring small...

I just went to my 34/35 week appt and was told my belly is measuring three to four weeks behind. The doctor doesn't seem concerned and just said we would do a growth ultrasound in two weeks to make sure he is growing properly. If my doctor isn't worried I'm not particularly worried, especially because I have a long torso so there might just be lots of room for him to set up camp My question is how many of you are measuring small? Is it something your doctor is worried about?

What is your belly measuring right now?

  • Small (39.5%)
  • Just Right (39.5%)
  • Big (21.1%)

I'm measuring slightly behind this pregnancy (1 wk) but was considerably behind last pregnancy (2-4 wks throughout).  I have HG and trouble gaining weight (better control/results this time) so that's why they watch me closely but generally the concern is IUGR.  Chances are its nothing to worry about but, if your doctor recommends it, definitely get the ultrasound to check.

Just had an appointment today and I'm measuring on track, but last month I was 2 weeks behind.

My LO was measuring small too but now she is in the 90th percentile for height and 75% for weight at 3 months. So its not that big a deal.

I'm like 1 week behind but they've never said anything. I don't think it's too bad to be off by about 3 weeks but I'm glad they'll do a scan just to check up on your fluids. Make sure you're keeping hydrated!

Measuring 3 weeks behind. I went for a growth us this week and it sounded like everything is good. The tech didn't say too much but mentioned her growth matches the due date

measuring 4 wk behind. I had an U/S this week and baby's head is measuring on track but everything else is 2-3weeks behind so they'll check again in 2 weeks.

DD was the same way and she's fine, just little.

I'm measuring just right this week, but at my 33 week appt, I was measuring 4 weeks behind. It could have just been a fluke, the baby could have been laying funny, etc,

As of my appt yesterday I am measuring spot on for the very 1st time this pregnancy. I had been measuring consistently 2wks ahead, then all last month measured 3wks ahead. He repositioned this past weekend apparently that's all it was! FWIW, I am short... only 5'3"

Today, for the first time, I am measuring small. I'm 37 weeks and for some reason I was measuring 30 weeks! They scheduled an u/s for next week to check his growth, since heartbeat and movement is all fine. I've never measured small before either.

I also chalk it up to having to see a doctor instead of my usual midwife and the fact that baby is really, really low (which is what the OB figures it is as well).

At my 33 week appointment my belly was measuring small (not sure by how much, dr didn't tell me). So I had a growth U/S at 35 weeks, baby is measuring right on! I was very relieved. I have a somewhat long torso & my doctor said I'm just "hiding" this baby well. :P I hope you are the same way! Good Luck!

I've been tiny since the get go. Hardly showed at 5 months. I am 37 weeks now and I still look like some late 6ers early 7s. I have a long torso as well and My son sits so low and hung upside down the entire time. We couldn't even get head measurements till my 30 week ultrasound he was so low. They pushed and prodded to move him up so get measurements. It hurt lol. But he was text book size and wieght. I just had an internal exam yesterday and she said she has never in her life seen a baby sit so low in some ones pelvis before. Also couldn't find my cervix lol Her words exactly :"you must feel like you have  to poop all the time"  lol. No not really. But I wouldn't worry. Your baby may be part bat and sit like mine does. lol I'm going to probably go early. She couldn't tell if I was that dilated or if my cervix was tucked but being so low she didn't think I have much time to wait.

I'm in the exact same boat! My doc isn't concerned at all and points at my super long torso (I'm 5'7 with the inseam of a 5'2 woman, so 5 extra inches for baby to roam in). Let's count ourselves lucky in this regard as I think we're prone to less weight gain, stretch marks, etc, as baby doesn't need to go "out" as much. Down side for me... I have super short legs. Blah.
