opinions on Kris?

Just plain Kris, for a boy.  Dh is set on this as our boy name when we try for #3, but I can't get passed that it feels incomplete.  I would be more open to it as a middle name, but find that it doesn't seem to flow well.  Any suggestions of opinions?

An important fact, is that it is DH's father's name, and DH was named after his grandfather, so he wants to do the same. Our DS was named after my side of the family.  We like more traditional names, DS is Jonathan and DD is Evelyn.

NMS. Every Kris I know (as compared to Chris or Christopher), has been a DB.

I like it more as a nn.

My brother is Kristian (KRIS-tee-ahn, not KRIS-chen). I think it works well with your other kids. It is a Scandinavian/Finnish name. I also have a good friend Cristian (same prn.) who is from Eastern Europe.

I do not care for it on its own.

Would you/he be open to Kristopher or Kristoff as the full name and calling him Kris?

It's OK-- I agree it does sound incomplete.

I think it would still be a nice tribute to your FIL, if you used the full name, Kristopher (or even Krystofer-- I think this is the Polish spelling) and called your LO Kris.

If you are not fully on board though, def let your DH know.  You should come to a mutual agreement on your LO's name.

Benjamin is my FAVORITE choice for a boy name, if only I could get DH on board.

I could easily use Christopher/Chris or even Kristopher, it is just a matter of getting DH to compromise and myself as well. And there is always a chance we could have another girl ;) Still another week before we even find out if there will be a #3 soon...

This - my ex was Kristoper (the German spelling is my understanding) and went by Kris.

I think Chris, spelled this way is fine. When I see Kris I think it's a nn for a girl.

I don't like it. If you want to use it, I would at least lengthen it to Christopher. Or if you have to use to use the K, Kristopher would be better than just Kris, even though I don't like that unique spelling.
