Frustrated and out of ideas

LO is 5 weeks old. Around the time of his 3 week growth spurt, he began screaming and kicking his legs after eating mostly breast milk, some formula. Our first thought was that he was still hungry, so we began feeding him 4 oz. Didnt make a difference.

We've talked to the nurses at our peds office numerous times, to the point that we feel very annoying, and have been to the doc twice. First they had me cut dairy from my diet, we started gas drops and gripe water, and now he's on Zantac for possible reflux. Nothing is helping. We also switched to sensitive formula for when we supplement.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? We are getting sick of being told this is normal and the result of his under developed system. I've been around a lot of babies, and screaming and kicking for an hour after eating is not normal. Any thoughts on what we might be able to do next other than see a new doc...?

We are dealing with a similar issue. I dont have much advise but we were told the same thing. We EFF and also take zantac. Gripe water and gas drops arent working. Make sure you hold your LO upright after eating, burp very often, and try massaging the tummy in a clockwise motion starting in the lower right side. If u are truly frustrstedwith the pedi then switch.

I'd try cutting soy out too.  Some babies that are sensitive to dairy are sensitive to soy as well since they tend to mimic each other.

Also, check to make sure that you aren't consuming any hidden dairy.

lastly, as crazy as it sounds look into elimination communication - the potty position can really help move gas through their system.

I don't have much advice just wanted to say I could have written this myself! The only difference is we are on prilosec. My office keeps brushing it off as well, but if it keeps up I am going to another office. I would do the elimination diet but also follow your instincts. Sadly it takes 2 weeks I think for dairy to leave your baby's system. Good luck and sorry you are dealing with this as well!

My daughter went through the same thing around 4-5 weeks and it just stopped. She would cry kick punch spit out the breastmilk but still act hungry and cry after every time she ate. She is now 6 weeks and so much calmer, I didn't change anything except get a rock and play and sit her up in it and rocker her after she ate or started getting fussy. Hopefully your little one will just grow out of it to soon good luck!
