Babies R Us Returns Without a Gift Receipt

Babies R Us baby registry returns without a gift receipt...

I just spent a half hour looking into this and saw a LOT of threads have been posted on the topic throughout the years but most of them are old & the answers are basically people's experiences and nothing definitive about the store's policy. Figured someone else might have the question (like I did) so I dug up the official, up to date, BRU store policy/page (in case anyone has a problem with a store, print out the page at the link at the bottom!). Decided to put it on this thread since showers are where people get gifts they might like to return but not have receipts for, lol. Anyway, hope it helps someone, sometime... Cheers.

 

TO RETURN AN ITEM WITHOUT THE RECEIPT:
Some items may be returned without a receipt, but please keep the following in mind:

  1. In most cases we can verify purchases made within the last 90 days via credit card or if the purchase was made from a baby registry and will issue a credit to the credit card used to make the purchase or in the form of a store credit for gift purchases from a baby registry.
  2. We do reserve the right to refuse a refund without a receipt.
  3. For a non-receipted refund, you will need valid identification. Valid forms of identification accepted at Babies"R"Us include:
    • Driver's License
    • State ID
    • Military ID
    • Passport
    • Resident Alien ID
  4. We will give you store credit. We cannot exchange items without a receipt, but we will give you store credit that can be used toward future purchases.
  5. You will receive store credit for the lowest price of the item in the last 30 days. The amount of the store credit issued will be the lowest promotional price of the item within the last 30 days.
  6. A special notice for customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island:
    Customers returning items purchased in these states without a receipt will not receive any credit for sales tax.

I went through this nightmare yesterday! Their gift receipts give no information so I had to do several returns with my license. I wish I registered at Buy Buy Baby.

this doesn't make sense, did you give them the gift receipts? If you didn't when they scan the receipt it pulls up the transaction information and they can do a return, for store credit. This seems to be the norm for most gift receipts. I'm not sure why you needed to use you liscence

Most of the stuff Babies R Us does doesn't make sense. I had a stack of gift receipts but the employee had no idea how to figure out which receipt went with which item so I had to do a return with out a receipt.
