Okay, Advice Please!

I am NOT artistically inclined in the least, although I can sew and follow a pattern fairly decently.

This said, I want ot make one of those photo boards like you see in the stores that are cloth covered with criss-crossed ribbons and you just tuck the photos in the ribbons.  Does anyone know how I do this? It seems like an easy enough project, but I'm worried about the ribbon not being snug enough.  Should I use pretty elastic instead? How should I fasten the ribbons down so that the pictures stay down?

DD(6 yrs old) asked that I make this for her-- wierdo kid!-- so that after the baby is born in Feb, she can fill it up with pictures and take it to school for show & tell.

ribbon will work fine.  I would use cork or foam board and use a spray adhesive to stick batting and fabric to the front then hot glue the ends down on the back.  Then use hot glue to attach the ends of the ribbons to the back.

You could probably find a tutorial, try googling ribbon photo board.

I used a blank canvas from the craft store, wrapped a layer of batting around to the back, then a layer of fabric, and used a staple gun to staple into the wood stretcher bars, then I arrange the ribbon on the front, and carefully flipped it over and stapled that on the back too.

I would use a piece of OSB or cork board and place a thin layer of cotton down first.. Then layer with the fabric you want. Use ribbon to make the holder. Staple gun the ribbon to the back. Should hold up.

This is what I did. It was really rather easy! Good luck!

This is what I did. I also  tacked the places where the ribbons crossed with a small x of matching thread.

Thanks all for the advice! I've been checking out things from the craft store.  Saturday, DD and I are going to the craft store to pick out her "colors" for the board.  She is super excited to "help" me make it and can't wait to be able to put pictures up.
