Animals

Anyone else's furbabies obsessed with them-

I have a cat who normally like being left alone- but lately he is all over me he loves laying right on my stomach and needing it- I am not complaining because I love his snuggles!!

I also have a Shar pei mix that we just adopted a few  months ago and she never really barks or growls but my husband works 3rd shift into the morning- well every since I found out I was pregnant she will hear the slightest noise and kind of grumbles and barks a little, she is always right beside me.

would love to hear anyone one else's stories about the furbabies!! :)

Happy pregnancies<3

Mine have also been extra clingy lately. I have a 7 month old pup that we got in July who always sleeps by our feet and more recently she's wanting to curl up by my belly. I know animals can sense changes in weather so I think it's definitely possible.

Ok, my dog is TOTALLY acting differently. He's always wanted to sit
on my lap, but now he cuddles up to my belly with his head on my belly. He
has NEVER done that it the six years
I've had him. Research says there's no
definite evidence of this, but also says that the personal experiences of this is quite amazing. I believe pets sense it; especially if you're super close to your pet. Im not sure of all animals, but in my case, my doggy knows. Or at least I want to believe that!! I don't think anyone would understand us unless they have pets and are close to them. Congrats on your beautiful baby!!

I have two dogs and I definitely agree with your comments.  Both my husband and I have noticed some changes in our dogs behavior.  They may or may not 'know' I'm pregnant but they sure know something is up.  Thanks for this post, it sure makes sense to me!

We have 5 cats, and since I have become pregnant they all seem to join us in the family room. When I nap on the couch in the afternoon, I usually have 3 napping with me (could have the same 3 sleeping in bed with me at night). I'm not sure if they know or not, it is nice to have all our wonderful pets in the same room as us. We get plenty of laughs with all their personalities coming together.

I love this! Our dog is just as crazy as usual. My two cats have been fighting with each other more than usual, but that could be because we had to put them on diet food to lose some weight O.o

This. My three year old furbaby is very independent and likes sitting with DH mostly and tossing me the ball when it's time to play. This last month she literally tries to sleep with her head on my belly or curled up right against it if I am on my side. She has never been that affectionate with me so it's nice! I just have to stop her from standing on me since I am kind of tender there now.

I think some pets have more of a sense than others. My cat has definitely been acting differently ever since about week 5 or 6. She usually likes DH's lap better bc it's bigger and she's fat (lol), but now she's always trying to climb all over me.

My two dogs, on the other hand, seem just as dopey and clueless as everStick out tongue

DH and I have a precious, precious, rescued Shepherd/Border Collie mix and nondog owners will think this is crazy but... we are very connected and bonded. Trooper always had a business attitude and would kind of "guard" us at a distance. Like laying at the entrance of the room we are in etc. But NOW he literally curls up with me sooooo tight and always has his back touching me/my belly when I am on the couch or if I'm sitting in a chair he is always touching me facing out. At night now he can't sleep unless he is curled up with me again with his back touching me and he is facing the entrance to the bedroom.

Both pregnancies I have had my dogs have totally acted different.  They are cuddlers to begin with but they become super attached and just "different" they all want to be around me and my belly.  We were doing fertility and I noticed one of my dogs became super attached like he was during pregnancy number 1.  I got excited that the cycle had worked and went the next day and took a HPT.  Came back positive went in 2 days later and got great beta numbers.  I dont know if they know we are pregnant but i think they can feel a difference.

Me: 28 DH: 30 ttc #1 since 2006 DX: PCOS 2008 Clomid 100mg = BFP 1/16/09 - DS 3 yrs old ttc #2 since 2010 July - Sept 2011 we did 3 cycles Clomid 100mg + TI (w/OBGYN) = BFN Oct. 2011 we did another cycle Clomid 100mg + IUI (w/OBGYN) = BFN Started treatment with RE January 2012 break due to change of job and issues with cysts Cycle #5 Clomid 100mg + Trigger + TI + progesterone = BFN Cycle #6 Follistim 75iu + Trigger + TI + progesterone = BFP Beta #1 (11/28) 315 Beta #2 (12/4) 3787

Cat's and dogs have a wider range of hearing than humans do.  They can hear much higher and lower tones.  I have been told (not 100% if it's been proven fact) that animals can hear the babies heartbeat.  Around 6 weeks, my cats (who are cuddley already) became obsessed with me and my stomach.  They would fight for a spot on my tummy.

I have two dogs and they're doing the same things. They sniff me every time I come home and they're very attentive with me. They insist on sitting right next to me and sleeping even closer. I think it's a nice touch, but man does it get annoying at night. Best of luck throughout your pregnancy!

I definitely think animals can sense a change. I have two dogs: a lab boxer mix and a boxer mastiff mix. The lab boxer is three and started peeing on our bedroom floor the day I got my bfp. She's house trained and otherwise healthy. Maybe a coincidence? Maybe not.

I absolutely think animals know.  With this pregnancy and my last, my cat sleeps across my stomach every night.  DH is convinced she can hear the heartbeat.

I've also heard that babies can sense pregnancy.
