meats???

My LO is up to 3 meals a day, has been for several weeks. My question is, how much /often should he be eating meat? Every day?? for lunch and dinner??? He eats a wide variety if veggies as well as beans, yogurt and bread... Just curious if I need to be making sure he eats meat daily.

I'm not sure what the guidelines are but I really base it off of what our dinner is. If we have steak he has steak etc. he basically eats with us. Hope this helps a little.

DS has meat usually once a day, but we're not strict about it and he sometimes skips it. He has bits of whatever we have for dinner usually, and I have turkey meatballs w/corn & spinach in the freezer in case I don't want him to have whatever it is that we're eating.

I think if you are giving him protein in any form, than skipping meat isn't such a big deal here and there. I don't really eat red meat, and so I'm not likely to feed DDs red meat, but I make sure they get chicken or turkey, and DH will give DD1 whatever meat he is eating. The nine month old gets it pureed, which I find revolting, but she doesn't have teeth. Beans and spinach are good sources of protein, no? Isn't that what vegetarians eat as a source? Hard to give my gummy bear steak with no teeth :(

Our pedi gave us a sheet with guidelines at whatever month appointment it was, cant remember, and it said one meal of meat plus veg each day, that's for the sake of iron more so than protein. She is also getting yogurt every day so that has some protein and calcium.
