Moms of colic babies

How do you know your baby isn't in pain? I am having the hardest time distinguishing between fussiness and pain. DS has reflux, and is on meds for less than 2 weeks so far. He cries a lot. I am thinking of cutting out dairy since I can't tell if its his tummy.

Just looking for some advice. Thx

This is my opinion: Colic doesnt exist.

If they are fussy, there is SOMETHING wrong. Either they are hungry or full or their tummy hurts or they have reflux or they are teething or they need more sleep, etc.

Usually more sleep is the key. Can I ask how often your DS sleeps?

I agree I dont believe in colic. If there werent something wrong then our LOs wouldnt be fussy. I realized that mkne was too tired and had too much stimulation throughout the day. On topof that we are dealing with reflux and tummy problems. With patience and swaddling, things are getting better.

I also do not believe in colic. I do believe that sometimes doctors just don't know what is going on and need a name for it.

My DD has had a lot of issues, all of which my DH and I have had to figure out on our own as the doctors all said she had colic. After being told she has reflux and Zantac not working, I was told to cut out dairy, which has not proven to be helpful at all. I finally figured out that the Zantac is making DD gassy and I have a very fast letdown when my milk comes in.

For us the difference between a painful cry and a normal cry is as different as night and day. When she is annoyed or bored she has more of a wimper. All i have to do is pick her up and she calms down. When she is in pain she has tears, arches her back, and can not be soothed by rocking or movement.
