have you set a sleep routine? daily nap schedule?

What age do you start this? Any tips? How many naps for a 5 week old?

We have a bedtime routine--bath, book, boob, bed. We start between 7:15 and 7:30. We started that routine around 6 weeks. We don't  have a nap schedule, but I try to put him down for a nap after 45 min-70 minutes of awake time, depending on his sleepy cues. It ends up being 3-4 naps a day at this point.

I am just watching his own schedule emerge. He seems to be making himslf a loose schedule. He takes a nap about an hour after he's up in the morning. The. He will be up awhile after he eats and alternates dozing and eating after. The last few days he seems to be getting sleepy around 8 or so every night so I think I will start putting him in bed around then instead of waiting til I go to bed. No real routine yet...just pjs and bottle. DS is also 5 weeks.  I would pick anime of night and dim lights lower tv volume, etc. when your LO gets sleepy, put him to bed. Eventually he will start getting drowsy every night around that time. A routine can be whatever you want...book, a bath, singing, rocking, feeding, etc....whatever seems to calm your baby.

We let DS make his own schedule and routine. I figure he knows when he's hungry and tired a heck of a lot better than I do.

I started a routine around 2 months.  I didn't have to force it, it just kind of flowed and happened.  Once they know the difference between night and day, the most important thing is to put them to bed at the same time every day, and wake up around the same time.  Babies need consistency, it will make things easier and happier for both of you.  My son started sleeping 11 hours straight at night at 4 months and I owe it all to my hard work of keeping a consistent routine :)    My neighbor has an 18 month old who still doesn't sleep through the night and cries all the time, bc they never kept a schedule

We started a bedtime routine for DS when he's 4 wks old.  We bring him upstairs to our bedroom at around 9-9:30pm, very dim lights.  Nurse, diaper change, swaddle, then nurse again.  If he's drowsy/sleepy, we put him in the crib.  If he's still awake, we sing/rock him until he's drowsy or asleep and put him in the crib.  Has been working pretty well for us so far (knock on wood).

We bathe him 3x/week, on those nights, we start bath time at 8:30pm then bedtime routine after that.
