baker916:I'm on the vivelle patches starting day 9 after ER (2 every other day). Based on what I've read, the ER process can mess with your body's ability to produce progesterone and estrogen normally (no natural release of eggs so the corpus luteum can be not normal), which means they want to make sure you are getting adequate hormones from the suppositories and patches. That's why you don't always need them for IUI since the egg releases normally (unless you have low 7DPO progesterone anyway).
This makes sense. I had just never asked for an explaination. I started Crinone two days after ER and two vivelle patches three days after ER. I will continue Crinone until I am told to stop, but I will stop the patches on beta day no matter what the outcome is. So interesting different RE's protocols...
