Stressed and anxious - all of the time...

How does everyone deal with the worries and mood swings?  It seems like so many things can go wrong during pregnancy and fetal development, it's hard to believe that everything can turn out right.

I go back and forth between being excited about becoming a mom to wondering how I can possibly do this and do it well.  I'm all over the place and don't know how to get through these moments of crushing anxiety and despair.

Is this normal?  I want to feel human again and to hope to have some moments of excitement that aren't immediately ruined by my fears and anxieties.

Anyone else?

I would say what you are describing might be excessive. You might be having some depression/anxiety issues caused by hormones. I would definitely take advantage of a mental health professional. That way you can have someone to talk out your fears with in a neutral setting. Last pregnancy I had crushing anxiety that affected my ability to sleep. I kept it to myself until right before delivery when I had the worst panic attack ever. It was awful and I wished I had said something to my doctor to get some help sooner.

You aren't crazy and there is nothing wrong with you-- its just chemicals that are making you feel awful. Also, if you don't already I would limit caffeine and other stimulants. Good luck, but please reach out if you need to.

It's totally norm ESP if this is your first baby to have anxiety and worry about any and everything. My first pregnancy I freaked out over everything got totally emo for no reason and just was a roller coaster. My second wasn't so bad.

I feel kind of similar because the baby is a bit of a surprise, but I don't think I feel stress to your extent. It is absolutely a big realization to know you're going to be responsible for someone else for the rest of your life and that's what I have a hard time swallowing. It's just a crazy notion. But, I'm sure you'll be a great mom. I hope worrying just means we're concerned for the right reasons. Yes

Talk to your doctor. Really. Anxiety that takes away your ability to function isn't normal.

It is normal to have worries, but I agree that it sounds like you may be over stressing. When I think about all the "what ifs" I just have to remind myself that it is what it is.
