Maternity clothes size?

Okay so I need to buy maternity clothes already but i've been just looking around for good deals. I seen old navy has some nice things on the sale page online. I just don't know how those sizes work? Pre baby I was a size 13 in jeans and large or extra large in shirts I shop in the juniors section. Lol Well I bought some maternity pants at target and they are a medium they fit a little tight around my butt but I like the way they fit. As I get bigger will I need to get a bigger size? As for shirts should I get a large or extra large? or how does that work? Sorry these questions may sound stupid but I'm shopping online so I can't try them on. Thanks for your help this is the first pregnancy I've had to wear maternity clothes.

Well I'm typically a 12-14 in jeans depending on the brand and a large-xl in shirts. So far most of the large pants fit me in my legs and butt but are still kinda big in the waist, but mediums wont work. All my shirts are size L. Most of my clothes are from Kohls, Target, and Motherhood. The shirts seem to be big enough that they will take me a good ways if not all the way through my pregnancy. I have looked at ON but have not ordered offline yet. My SIL who is pregnant said what she got offline is pretty true to size compared to her other maternity clothes.

Okay thanks. The large pants from target were way too big for me everywhere as well as long. I'm short 4"11 so I didn't get them I have a feeling that the way my butt and thighs are growing I should buy large size pants. Lol

You're going to want to go up a size in those pants if they're tight now.  Almost everyone gains at least a little of their weight in various areas like their butt and it sounds like you won't have any wiggle room if that happens.

Maternity size is the same as regular clothes.

If you were a size large in shirts, then you're a size large in mat stuff

If it helps I've noticed that some jeans I got from Target ran big. I'm a prepregnancy size 6 but needed a 2 in some. Everywhere else I have gotten my prepregnancy small and they've been fine so, in general, you should be fine ordering your usual ladies size.

This, for the most part. For jeans, I often find I have to go down one size since they have a lot of stretch in them.

Well I'm typically a x-small/small and I wore the same in maternity clothes until a a couple of weeks ago. My boobs are getting so big that I have to wear a medium and my hips are wider so I'm in a medium in that as well.

I just bought maternity clothes in my normal size (at Motherhood).  There's wiggle room in almost everything I purchased, but I guess I can always go a size larger if I need to.  Have no idea how big I'm going to get!

Well the pants and stuff I have seen were S/M/L/XL not number sixes. I also don't want to spend 30$ on maternity pants and 15$ for a shirt so I went to goodwill and spent 30$ on three jeans and five shirts. They were all Medium jeans and small/medium shirts. Although they are a little tight in my butt the large was to big and baggy and I already feel hideous that would make me feel worse. So since each item I bought was anywhere from 2.99-4.99 if they don't fit I can donate them back to goodwill and just buy more. Even clearance maternity clothes have ridiculous prices. Thanks for your advice though ladies. :)

This. It will also depend on how much weight you gain later on, and how you carry that weight.

All my mat jeans still fit in the butt and thighs, but the belly panels are starting to get snug. Not really sure what to do about that, other than roll them down :X

ETA, Old Navy offers free returns for online purchases, so... Fear not! I am sending back a shirt this week that made me look like a house. And not the brick kind... ha

I am a 14-16 prepegnancy and I am always always an XL in Maternity, but I have boobs too, so keep that in mind if you are smaller up top (although that may change Wink)
