Girl name list for hospital end of week...

DH and I have different name choices, but we have a list for our upcoming csection at the end of the week. Here are the names need help/advice on which names you all think I should "push more for".... big sis is Reese

Scarlett my pick, but he is not in love..
Payton his pick, I think it's just OK
Alexis compromise name, it's OK..kind of basic for me
Finley my pick, he thinks it's OK
Savannah compromise name, we both think it's OK, but no overwhelming love for it...
Paisley my pick, he thinks it's OK
Mackenzie his pick, I'm bored of it..

Suggestions?!? I just have no clue how this "name conversation" will go once she is born we are all over the map, I feel like. We have exhausted all names, too. We have talked about it so much that we are done talking about it until she is born in a few days!

I'm not sure you are "all over the map" as all of these names pretty solidly fall under the "trendy" category.

Scarlett and Savannah would get my vote - though they aren't really my style.

I really dislike Payton, Alexis, Paisley and Mackenzie and am a bit tired of seeing them.

I would keep trying until you both find something you love, though I know that's easier said than done.

Like BlueRidge, I would vote for Scarlett, then Savannah.

The name Autumn came to mind as I was thinking of suggestions.

I am probably in the minority here, and it's not anything I would personally use, I absolutely love the name Paisley, so that would be my pick.

FWIW-- DH and I went to the hospital with 3 names-- his favorite, my favorite and our compromise name.  After I had given birth I think he was so in awe (not of me, necessarily, just of the whole process) that he told me the final pick was mine-- so maybe something like that will go down.

This exactly.

Paisley is a pattern. It's like naming your child 'Flannel' or something, to me. I know it's super trendy and getting more popular, but that's what I think of when I hear or see it.

Oh I'm sorry you are having a hard time picking a name.  Out of your list, I like Scarlett the best.  I do not like Payton, Finely, Paisley, or Mackenzie at all.

Honestly, I'm not crazy about any of them.  Alexis would probably be my favorite.

Scarlett seems harsh to me.  I do not like Payton.  Not a fan of Finley at all.  Savannah is nice, but seems way off from Reese.  Hate Paisley and Mackenzie is dated.

Other suggestions:

Paige, Camilla, Mallory, Kate, Cara, Stella, Emma, Claire, Audrey, Caroline, Carys, Harper, Juliet, Lila.

Hey, neighbor.

I agree that your naming style is pretty well defined. The names on your list are all modern favorites, tending toward the trendy and androgynous, and most are more popular in the Mountain West and South than they are in New England.

I follow the Massachusetts names fairly closely, so here's some further information on your names:

Scarlett: #80 nationally, #80 in MA (perfect match!)

Payton: #95 nationally (#30 on the list with spellings aggregated), #172 in MA

Alexis: #26 nationally, #44 in MA

Finley: #364 nationally, #328 in MA

Savannah: #41 nationally, #59 in MA

Paisley: #195 nationally, not even appearing on MA list (fewer than 5 babies born in 2011)

Mackenzie: #135 nationally (#29 on the list with spellings aggregated), #263 in MA

Of these, I think your best bet with Reese is probably Finley. It has the same androgynous feel and is vaguely Celtic without being hyper-correct.

Scarlett and Savannah are my favorite on the list, but neither are my style.  I have a cousin named Reese and her sister's are Elizabeth (Ellie) and Violet.

If this LO is a girl her name will be Paisley so that is my vote!! Its actually not just a pattern as pp said.....look it up before making an assumption. It actually has Scottish roots with the meaning Church.

As per Behind the Name:

From a Scottish surname, originally from the name of a town, which may ultimately be derived from Latin basilica "church". This is also a word (derived from the name of that same town) for a type of pattern commonly found on fabrics.

I think the words "...may ultimately be derived..." are the key to this. It's basically saying, it's a stretch.

OP, given your choices I prefer Finley or Scarlett.

However, my own choices paired with big sister Reese would be:
Eliza
Olive
Juliet
Cora

I actually REALLY like Scarlett. I doesn't flow with the mn/last name our LO will have so we scratched it.. but it would be my first choice off your list.

Finley, Paisley and Savannah are nice too.

Scarlett --very pretty. Getting more popular and possibly will be seen as "trendy" some day, but if you're OK with that, go for it.

Payton--again, trendy. Also, people will have to ask if you have a daughter or a son.
Alexis--pretty
Finley -- I think this is a boy name?
Savannah--OK
Paisley--seems weak to me
Mackenzie--feels dated, late 90s/early 00s to me

Good luck! I imagine you will know her name when you meet her, regardless of what any of us thinks!

 Alexis, Scarlett, or Finley.
