Info on CM?

Hello everyone and happy Monday! (if there is such a thing)

I am hoping that some of you more experienced ladies out there could direct me to some good info on CM. I don't really know anything about it. I realize that it helps to detect fertile days, but that is about it. As gross as it is I am really looking for a website or something that has pictures of the different types. Also when to check, how to check, etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have been avoiding the idea of checking CM, pretty much just because it kinda grosses me out and also because I have just been getting used to temping. I see that almost everyone on here seems to check CM, even people that don't temp. So, I suppose I should at least educate myself.

Thanks!

Check out the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  Also, The Beautiful Cervix Project really helped me understand not only CM, but CP as well.  Good luck!

This!  I found this site when I first started charting and had no clue about how to find my cervix and check for CM.  This site is amazing, I mean I never had a clue what my cervix actually looked like, it was a revelation!  I find I have to check CM internally because I rarely get anything in my panties that I can rely upon to be accurate.  I get all sorts of different kinds of CM when checking all up in there, plus this site helped me to figure out what I was looking for in terms of cervical position and such, now I know what it is I'm feeling for!

I also ditto PP's suggestion to check internally.  I very rarely get any CM in my underwear, maayyyyybe just a little wet.  But I've found a good amount of EWCM at the right time by checking internally.  It also helps to check right after a bowel movement.

Again, jschwind beat me to it. I was actually a little grossed out by the Beautiful Cervix Project at first, but it really helped me understand my cervix a lot better.

Yeah, don't go to the 'abnormal cervix' parts of the project unless you want to not be able to eat for a few days...but I agree, it's a little weird at first looking at all those cervixes, but it really does help to know what's down there.  I had no idea at all, and always wondered how docs could tell how dilated it was, but now I know!

Glad you asked this! I've been wondering about CP lately and have no idea how to identify if it's high or low, or soft or firm...or any of that.

Well, I can't say it is what I look forward to the most. But yeah, I guess it grosses me out a little. I plan on checking CM when I get to that point. I am just gonna put it off a little since I JUST started TTC 2 weeks ago. I sorta want to ease into things a tiny bit. Just not a huge fan of the word mucus I guess.

Definitely check out Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Detailed instructions and a coloured photo insert. It's been a huge help for me.

Thanks everyone! I just dug out my forgotten copy of TCOYF. Those cervix pictures are pretty intense, but also awesome! I just wish I had a livein gyno to look up there for me every day.
