J&D2007:Oh, no! Wth? That sucks. We are completely oop for everything and the big chunks of money are absolutely incredible. I spent $3700 today at freedom fertility. Can you just get the lupron for now? Then page the oop meds coordinator or talk to you dr about any samples, etc? I went to my bank and opened a new 0% credit card and put everything on there. That way I rack up a bunch of points and can pay it off month by month without any interest. Anyway, I hope you can work it out, I know how bummed you'd be if you had to cancel. Keep us posted.
I did have to cancel or put off for a month or whatever you want to call it. My nurse thinks she can get enough Menopur for my cycle with donations over the next month so she wants me to take the month off no BCP or anything. It just so happens that I ran out of BCP yesterday so I am already getting ready to do the one month off. All I should be paying for is Lupron, HCG trigger and what ever the difference is from how much my nurse can get me for Menopur and how much I actually need. So it looks like I will be a February IVF....hopefully.
The same thing happened to me, just not on that tight of a timeline I have good medical coverage, but didn't know I had a medication cap until I was getting ready for IVF #2. One piece of advice, if you haven't tried it yet, is to check the insurance coverage for the Lupron and HCG. My insurance didn't cover stims after I hit the cap, but did cover those two. Also, if you do have to pay for the Lupron, research prices. I'm not sure if you are on microdose or regular, but for MDL, I found it significantly cheaper at Mandell's Pharmacy. When I checked last month, they were charging $72.98, compared to $199 at Freedom.
So sorry to hear this resulted in a delay for you. Insurance companies are such jerks sometimes, and having gone through it myself, I know how unsettling, frustrating, etc. getting that unexpected news is. Wishing you all the best when you do get to cycle!
Thank you for your help! I also found my Lupron to be $199 at Freedom. if I can help it I don't want to use them. I have had nothing but problems with them everytime I have used them.
I agree with you about Freedom. I was so pissed to find out that they jack up their Follistim to nearly twice the price I paid OOP this cycle. It makes what insurance money you do get go so much faster. Had I known this, I probably would have paid OOP for the Follistim so it would ultimately have been cheaper this cycle.
To top it off, at the end of my cycle I was ordering my Menopur from them (price is as cheap as anyone else) daily, since I didn't want to buy more than I needed. The first refill was no problem. I placed an identical refill order the next day and was told it would be shipped. Discovered around 11am (my usual delivery time) the next day, they never sent it! Best they could tell me, someone thought it was a duplicate of the previous order and decided on my behalf, without checking with me, to cancel it!
After spending 3 hours tracking it down locally, since it would have been my last dose before trigger, my IVF nurse called to tell me I was triggering that night after all and didn't need it! But still, who the F are they to do decide what I do or don't need? Grrr, so happy to be done with them for right now.
