FF baby, crys a lot after feeding, gassy?

My baby boy is just over a month old and the last week or so he's been crying after every bottle quite a bit. Hes even fighting the bottle at feedings sometimes. I believe he's gassy. Also he goes days with out pooping and after two or three days of no poop I give him apple juice and water to help him go potty. It's kinda clay like and gray greenish with a lil bit of the formula look mixed in.

His formula is good start gentle and I'm thinking of switching him. I know it takes a week to really know and I'm nervous about changing him. I give him gas drops in every bottle. He eats about 3oz every 2-3 hours.

Anything I can do to help? Do you think changing his formula is what I need to try?? I hate all the unknowns. I wish things where simple!! Help please?

I've read its normal for babies not to poop every day, but I'd talk to your pediatrician.

My LO is also on Goodstart Gentle and gassy as well. He is having bowel movements though at least 2-3x a day which is why my pediatrician does not want us to change formulas. We also give gas drops, but only .03ml twice a day and one or two bottles with 1 drop in it. We feed him sitting up and burp after every oz or so. This has really helped. We also leave him upright for about 15-30 minutes after eating. This has helped with the crying. We also added Biogaia to his daily routine about 3 days ago and I'm already noticing slight improvements after eating.

My pediatrician told us babies are gassy around this age and he will grow out of it. It's frustrating I know cause we hate to see our LO's suffer.

I would start reducing the amount of gas drops you give.  I have heard that they can cause constipation, so if you are giving them at every bottle, that is probably too much!

Also, my little guy was fighting some bottles recently, so I sucked on the nipple to see if anything was coming out and sure enough it was barely coming out.  I have gone through all the nipples and found two that were messed up.  Now that we have eliminated that, he rarely gets mad at the bottle!

My first born did awful on good start formula.  She was soooo gassy and I remember it smelling so bad.  All babies are different, though.  I hear ya on wishing things were simplier!!! I would consult your pediatrician to see what they suggest as far as formulas go.

1. call the dr. Could be gas and constipation but there are a number of unknowns. Any other symptoms or just crying? How bad is the crying? Any vomiting? Formula can make the poo greenish but seriously you don't want this to get worse. Could be reflux, could be allergy, could be just constipation or gas... could be the gas drops! Could def be causing the constipation. Not sure though... Call the dr before you switch formula. If you don't know what the issue is there are too many formulas to switch to that cater to different things.

Called the dr and talked to them, they say its normal for his poo to look that way when constipated and that to try apple juice plain 1 oz everyday. I was adding water to the baby juice.. Oops. It's helped him out. He was just crying normal, not allll the time just after bottles. It hurt him to go or toot. After the juice he's been going potty for the last two days once a day, and its turning back into a formula poo. Thank God cause I felt bad for the lil guy. It's getting easier for him to go and toot so we r both much happier!!!
