You will probably be with a nurse. They will ask you 101 questions about medical history and do labs.

What Kansas said, your medical history and also a history on any other pregnancies you may have had. The blood work is to check for immunity for various diseases, your rh-factor, levels for various nutrients (such as Iron and Folate), and maybe some hormones (my TSH was checked). It may differ from office to office or patient to patient. Most of the opinion is medical history, and with a doctor, they might discuss with you whether you want the first trimester scan (nuchal screening), and refer you to information that'll  help you have a safe and healthy pregnancy. And you should be able to ask the doctor any questions you might have. It's a fairly lengthy appointment.

My first appt was about an hour and a half long with my nurse-midwife.  I filled out forms and she followed up with questions about my medical history and asked about my symptoms, etc.  She went over the list of questions I had with me right off the bat which made me feel more at ease.  Write down any questions you think of so that you don't forget to ask! I also peed in a cup and had a bunch of blood drawn for all sorts of tests.  The first appointment really made me feel better about the whole experience. Hope yours goes well too.

My first visit was an "OB nurse interview" where I sat with the nurse for about an hour and a half, and just went over medical history. She gave me some information on the OB practice, timelines of when they do what, and gave me a bag of goodies which had pamphlets and prenatal vitamin samples.

They also did a urine sample, and took blood for various tests. That part I wasn't expecting, and maybe it was better so I didn't have time to stew about it. (The last time I had blood drawn I was four and it was a beyond horrible experience.) Ha.

Every office is different...I met with my doctor at the first appointment.

pee in a cup, pg test, blood pressure, pap,  blood, u/s to date pg, history, schedule either cvs, amino, or nt scan, packet of information for the 9 months, ask if I have questions, schedule next appointment.

might get a flu shot.

Congrats!  My first appointment was over 2 hours long.  We did an ultrasound, then I met with a midwife for lots of questions (mine and hers).  Then, she did an internal - but not a pap smear since it hadn't been that long since my last one.  Afterward, I had blood drawn, then met with the person in the office in charge of insurance and payments.  Also had to pee in a cup.

 Good luck!

My first OB visit was different from PPs as well. Urine test, weight, blood pressure. I saw the OB and he went over what I should expect with a twin pregnancy, and he did an ultrasound.

During my first prenatal visit, my OB said that he did not have any restricitons for me as far as foods to consume, except for deep sea fish such as swordfish, etc. He said that lunchmeats were fine and really didn't give me anything to go by as far as medicines not to take. I think I have a good handle on what not to take as far as medicine, but I was shocked that he didn't have any restrictions on foods. Do you think I should look into a different doctor?

My first visit includes being asked a million medical history questions, having lab work done, and then visiting with the doctor for a pelvic exam. It wasn't anything horrible. No big deal.

every doctor is different and some are more conservative then others.  Mine handed me a list of foods to avoid.  What drugs I can take which trimester.  The last was deli meat ( due to listeria) hotdogs (nitrates), shark, swordfish, over a certain amount of farmed salmon.  This tuna no more then one a week.  This is all from memory.
