Let's talk constipation

Moms of two or more: how are you relieving the constipation this time around?  What's working for you??  Give me ANYTHING because it hurts to sit, I'm backed up so bad.

Colace, metamucil, fiber

Drink lots of water. I found that cranberry juice works for me. I get 100% juice blends (cran-apple, cran-pomegrante, etc) and drink some every day.

Water's not working, but I haven't tried cranberry juice.  Hmmmm.  Thanks!

We're on #3 and this time is kicking my ass!  I'm on Zofran which is different from the others, but OMG.  It's been a solid 10 days, no poop.  10 days.

I had to get some milk of magnesia. It's become pretty painful for me...not one thing works better than another. My husband suggested some "Fiber one" cereal, and couldn't believe it when it didn't help. I eat leafy greens DAILY, I've tried prunes, juice, water...you name it...the milk of magnesia helped somewhat...but it's just a painful thing to be constipated. I have been afraid to eat because of it.

Fruit.  Lots of fruit.  Pineapple, mangoes, apples with skin.  Particularly out of season fruit.  And beans.  I'm so sorry.  I heard zofran will back you up somethin fierce.

Try coconut water. It has a natural laxative effect, so make sure you're near a bathroom when you drink it. Also, Target sells fiber gummies that are awesome. Once you get back to regularity, try two of those a day, and Fiber One bars but be warned, they make you awfully windy.

I agree with the fruit suggestion! I have the What to expect to eat book and it reccomends kiwis to help get things moving.

I've been having the same problem. And when I do finally go it's so hard!! lol

Dude, I tried everything and the only thing that gave me a little bit of relief was taking two colace every day.  But still, that relief was minimal.  I finally got past the worst of the m/s, laid off the zofran, started eating salads again and my body spent the whole day Saturday eliminating what the zofran held on to for the last 3 months.  It was a blessing and a curse.  I hope you find the magic cure so you don't have to go through that!

Good luck!

Oh, and btw, my OB swears that it's the prenatals that are causing constipation, not zofran.  I don't believe him, but they do make prenatals with stool softeners in them.  Might want to look for those and give them a try!

I could not be happier for my fabulous TTC buddy, MandaPanda518!

Drink water. I don't know what is going on with me though. I did not have this problem with my last two pregnancies. I am still drinking lots of water, so who knows?
