I've been lurking around this board for a few months and as we gear up to take our first try, I thought I'd introduce myself. My wife and I got married this June after being together for 4 1/2 years. We initially had planned to foster but after 16 hours of classes, were extremely turned off by the whole " THE STATE KNOWS BEST" attitude and the lack of autonomy to care for a child. We then turned to adoption as I had been diagnosed with an untreated case of PID several years before and told I would not be able to bear children. After a few months of getting things ready for adoption, we decided why NOT check to see if I really couldn't have a kid?
It turns out that doctor was crazy ... or something... I had an HSG and it was clear. No scarring. We were super excited and immediately went to a fertility specialist. Of course, in my mind I thought, "okay, we'll come back from our honeymoon and start trying! I'll be pregnant by September." LOL
Of course, things are not like that right? I tested poorly for egg quality and so I've spent the last 4 months taking DHEA along with a veritable cocktail of herbs daily, acupuncture, yoga and going gluten free! I've read the books, changed the diet and ultimately I quit my high stress job in order to make a space for a little person to grow.
I am just now waiting on AF to arrive so I can begin clomid and gear up for our early January TRY #1!
I'm excited to have a space to talk about this as we are not telling friends or family until we have something to report.
