Loss of Breath

Hi Ladies,

I was wondering if anyone is experiencing problems breathing. And I don't necessarily mean after walking a long distance, doing household chores or any daily activity. I mean laying down or sitting there watching television.

I'm having issues where I'm just laying there and gasping for air. I've gone to my OB and they have me doing a series of tests to try to figure out what the problem is, since they hear me gasp but my lungs are clear. I'm now sitting here waiting for test results just worrying myself crazy. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

I have! I'm not really showing at all, so my doctor ran some tests and since my lungs were clear and my blood pressure was fine, he thinks it's just the way the baby is pushing my organs up is putting pressure on my diaphragm so my normal breaths aren't as deep as they should be. It results in every once in a while I have to gasp a little because I feel like I've been holding my breath. He said that if I were carrying more outward it might not be a problem, and when I "pop" and start growing out it might alleviate it but for now he believes it's just one of those discomforts of pregnancy.

Depending on what your tests show, your doctor might find the results different, though. Sorry you're having trouble with it!

I have this problem too.  Only I'm not really worried because I know that all of my organs are smashed up against my lungs - especially while sitting.  As the baby gets bigger, the more difficult it is to breath while just sitting.

I have well-controlled asthma, but this is happening to me, too. I get out of breath just from talking for too long. I'm not concerned about it, though, because I've been seeing my MW and lung doc regularly and neither are concerned.
