This past weekend we got to meet and listen to Martin Zellar at a very small house party in Phoenix. He is the lead singer of a 90s era Minneapolis band called the Gear Daddies. Ran in the same circle as the Replacements, Husker Du, and those kinds of bands.
I have no idea why or how I missed them when they were psuedo famous back in the day. But I'm a fan now! And I gotta say.. Martin is HOT!!!!! And super nice---we call that "Midwest Friendly." He tried to teach me how to play craps and it was a miserable failure on my part.. but it was fun.
GT---their most popular song was called "I Wanna Drive the Zamboni"... heard of it?
Here's their one big national TV performance. He sounds exactly the same now.
