Baby Hospital Bag

What is everyone packing for baby for the hospital bag? Any STM with advice...

I know my hospital has diapers, binkies, bottles, wipes...pretty much the works so I was wondering if I should even bother with anything outside of blankets and clothes

Mine does too, I'm just taking going home outfits in newborn and 0-3 since I don't know how big he'll be, the carseat, his baby book, and blankets.

Nope. Just a blanket and a coming home outfit. It it's gonna take you longer than 15min to get home from the hospital, take an extra set of clothes in case LO has a blow out on the way home.

Edit: Don't forget the baby book or anything you want LO's footprints on. I took a white Tshirt of DH's to have DD's footprints on.

Mitts, hat, 3 plain onsies (our hospital doesn't provide them or I would just leave em home) baby book, going home outfit, and blanket . I did pack the diaper bag to leave in the car in case any explosions happen on the way home lol. We live about a 30-45 mins away from the hospital, near a military base, so if its rush hour, it could be up to 2 hours on the way home.

You ladies don't really need the diaper bag. Just grab an extra diaper and some wipes from the hospital and bring them home with you.

I empty out the diaper bag and bring only 1 sleeper (cotton or fleece), a light fleece blanket to put over the car seat and the baby book so I can get the foot prints/ hand prints. I bring the diaper bag completely empty so I can load it up with all the stuff they give you (diapers, wipes, pacis, cream, hats, etc.) Our nurses always restock the bassinet with diapers and wipes and stuff right before mom gets discharged so that you have extras to take home (they cant reuse the stuff once its been put in the bassinet so you might as well take it home).

ETA: I don't put my baby's in their own clothes until right before we leave that way if they do have a blow out while we are there the outfit doesn't get dirty. As for diapers for the car- if the baby has a blow out when you are driving you most likely wont be stopping and changing the baby until you get home so no need for extra stuff.

With DD I had the whole diaper bag packed and never touched it other than to get her going home outfit out of it. I think I even packed my pump in the car and when I told my nurse she said "if you need one, we have a better one than you do..." With DS I will just throw his outfit and blanket into my bag because the hospital will provide everything else I need. I plan on packing all of my stuff in an overnight bag, and then putting that bag in another bag to collect everything on the way home- gifts, flowers, the stuff from the cart- and don't hesitate to ask! My cart was stocked with size 1 diapers so I was using the newborns I had brought from home. The nurse saw me pull a diaper out of the bag and asked why so I told her about the size 1's and she brought me three packs of newborn diapers to make up for it. They have tons of excess so don't be afraid to ask.

We also ended up needing the 2 oz. nursettes in the middle of the night our second night home so I won't forget to get those either as a backup.

I WAY overpacked last time so I want to scale it down. I was induced so I spent the whole day packing but we walked in with a good size duffle each, DH had a backpack STUFFED full of entertainment/food, and a pillow for each of us. It was like we were moving in... This time I will be much more prepared.

Thanks ladies. I have two blankets packed, a few outfits, and two stuffed animals that my husband and I bought for him.  We live in North Dakota so with this blizzard we just had I wanted extra warm stuff for my little guy.  Thanks for the advice, I really tend to over think things sometimes lol

I'm using the diaper bag as her bag, we have 3 white onsies, 3 pairs of socks, a night gown, sleeper, the take home outfit and 2 crochet hats. We also have the usual diaper bag stuff, just so it's ready when we need it after we're home from the hospital.

Yes, I know the hospital provides clothes for your LO, but I want her to wear her clothes, I was the same way with DS.

Just FYI, they may not let you dress the baby in clothes you brought.

They were in my room every hour or so, taking DS' vitals and checking his umbilical cord stump. The side-snap T-shirts they dress the babies in provide easy access.

Also, there's a risk that your clothes from home may get mixed up with the hospital laundry and you'll never get them back.
