Supplements + low AMH

My RE wants me to start taking the following supplements for my low AMH level.

1. DHEA - 75mg daily
2. L-Carnitine - 500mg daily
3. Co-Q - 100mg daily

Anyone have experience taking any or all of these? I'm not finding a lot online about it. I know someone posted on 3T about DHEA a few days ago, but I wanted to ask about the others as well. Thanks for your help!

Check out Life Extensions Supplements website. I buy mine on Amazon. They are really high quality vitamins. I take the Super Omega3 and Vitamin D. I've heard Dr. Oz recommend all these supplements for different things. I think DHEA is an Omega, L-Carnitine is antioxidant to help prevent aging =), and Co-Q is really good for your heart.

I was on CoQ10 for three months before my second cycle.  My RE had me on 250mg daily.  The minimum dosage he prescribes is 200mg.

I have not been on DHEA.  My understanding is it can be helpful for some people but is not for everyone.  My RE stopped prescribing it to his patients as he felt that the side effects outweighed the benefits.  I do know however that 75mg was the highest dose he prescribed when he was using it.

My RE also recommended taking 1000mg of Omega-3 and 100mg Pycnogenol. He never mentioned L-Carnitine to me, so I can’t give any insight on that.

I'm on a laundry list for my next IVF.

400mg co q 10

100mg DHEA

B complex (specifically for the niacin ie: egg quality)

Fish oil

An antioxidant- pycnogenol or something similar

VITAMIN D! (a lot of new research coming out about low vit d levels and infertility/mc/IVF)

Vit C

Melatonin 3mg at night

Be careful taking L-Carnitine if you're hypothyroid/hyperthyroid it can interfere with thryoid meds, etc.

I also take 75 mg of DHEA daily, and i take 600 mg daily of the CoQ10. I don't have any issues with low AMH, so I would think you would be on a higher dose of the CoQ10 to help improve in that area. 100 mg seems pretty low, but what do I know?

I have a normal to high AMH but poor egg quality, go figure. For this round my RE is adding in Saizen, a growth hormone injection, but also recommended CoQ10 starting at 200mg and slowly increasing by 100s up until 600mg. Also she recommended DHEA, but there was no particular dose that she required so I'm on 50mg once a day.

Good luck!

I have low AMH and my RE has me on 75mg of DHEA.  I was taking CoQ10 but he told me not to take it... So I finished my bottle and dropped them.

I have a study about the benefits of DHEA if anyone wants to see it.  Just PM me your email address and I'll send it.

Wow....so much information! I'll definitly be asking my RE about the B Complex.  I've already read somewhere that Vitamin B can affect IF.  Off to Walgreens I go... :) Thanks ladies!

I'm on 400mg daily of CoQ10 at my RE's recommendation. I did try 75mg of DHEA before IVF3, but hated the side effects. My new RE said I could use it if I wanted, but seemed neither here nor there about it so I decided against it. Haven't heard of the other one. Best of luck!
