36 week check up.

Had my first internal & dr. said nothing. no progress. which is fine :) but I will say, it wasn't as bad as i expected. Didn't feel any pain/pressure. wasn't uncomfortable at all. I know some of you had mentioned that. Maybe as the weeks go on and I progress it will get uncomfortable.

Just felt like writing a post. next appt. is next wednesday! :)

Dr. told me to call if my water breaks, or if i'm having contractions that last longer then two hours.

Does that seem too long to wait for contractions? I have see some of you talking about some 5-1-1 rule.

Ha, my Dr. doesn't go by timing them. She said to let the pain make the call, and ignore the 5-1-1 rule.

See that is what all my GF have told me, that the internal check isn't too bad but a lot of ladies on here seem to swear it's terrible pain to have one done. So this is good to hear. Of course I'm sure all experiences are different!

It has everything to do with the OB. My internals never hurt with my OB, but I had to get one from an on call OB during my first pg, and it hurt a lot.

I got a sheet today in when to call for labor. Call if my water breaks, and since I'm a second time mom, call when contractions are 10 minutes apart. I don't remember what the timing was for a first time mom.

My dr only goes by the 5-1-1 rule for STM's. First timers they said 2 hrs.

You could be in labor for a looooong time before you reach the 511 rule, so no, 2 hours doesn't seem like a long time. Did she say contractions 5 mins apart, lasting 1 minute, for 2 hours?

How come they did an internal?

They don't check before 40 weeks here.

Also, at 40+3 weeks I wasn't dilated. Went into labour not too long after.

Many, many practices start internals at 36 weeks when they do the GBS swab. Then some continue on every week, while others don't check again until 3840 weeks.

I don't recall him saying anything about how long or far apart they are.

He just said how will you be able to tell false labor from real labor? drink water...[something like this. I have to ask at my next appointment bc i forget! :(] I guess if its false labor, it will stop. and if it's real labor it wont.

He just said I want to hear from you if your water breaks or you're having contractions for more then two hours.

That's just how my dr. does things. I believe it's an internal at all my weekly appointments now.
