Are these initials awful?

Hi everyone.  One of the names that we are strongly considering starts with an E, and our last name starts with a W.  Are these terrible initials?  The first name is Elowen, and we really love Winter as a middle name.  Is giving our daughter the initials EWW a terrible thing to do?  Would you avoid using a name you love because of these initials?

Would you avoid using a name that you love because the initials would be EWW?

  • I would avoid using the name- even if I loved it. (29.8%)
  • The initials aren't the best, but it wouldn't change my decision. (47.2%)
  • Those initials really wouldn't bother me at all. I would still use the name. (23%)

Not the best initials but unless they spell out a swear word or other highly offensive term I don't really have a problem with initials or even put to much thought into them.

I guess the initials post confuse me. How often has someone commented on your initials? I never pay attention to them.

Personally, I'm not sure that the initials would be used overly much, and as it is a little girl, she can change her name when she gets married, when I find I've used my initials more.  If that makes sense.  :)

I'd change them personally, mine used to spell MUM and some kids had more jokes than brain cells over it.

LOVE Elowen Winter! So precious. Like others have said, the initials aren't the best and may get a little teasing early on, but I don't think it'll be anything detrimental. She'll most likely change her name when she gets married anyway.

Totally overthinking.  My initials spelled NED growing up and it was never a problem. Not one kid called me Ned.  Ever.  I wouldn't worry about it all.

Thanks everyone for the opinions!  I always said that initials are not a big deal, but I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't ignoring an issue because I like the name.  Someone pointed it out to DH and I, and we hadn't really thought much of it before that.

I can't vote on my phone, but I don't think it's a problem at all.

We didn't realize until after Isla was born that her initials are IBM. Haha oh well. I just thought it was funny since I am a regular on th BNB and had considered a million other scenarios except initials .... Which is a common subject on here.

Not a big deal! Since getting married my initials are SAD and I think it's funny. If anything I remember as a kid always thinking it was cool when someone's initials spelled something!

My initials were DAD growing up. I didn't realize it until an art project used our initials as the main focus in 2nd grade. Everyone thought it was hilarious! I'm nearly 40 and still remember this. Just sayin...

Just make sure you monogram the name instead of initials.  My DH's initials are MAR, only odd because his first name is Mark.  Anything monogrammed looks like they left off the K.

I would still use the name. I don't think the intials EW/ EWW is a dealbreaker.

Oh I didn't even think of this!! We love the name Elizabeth for a little girl and the last initial is also W. I never even realized that it spells EW.

Well, take it from who is just realizing it now. The way I see it is I still love the name. Might our kids complain about it in the future... maybe a little bit. But they aren't going to be the only ones out there with those initials.

It could be worse, I used to know of someone named Alfred Steven Shaver.

EWW doesn't seem like a problem.  I grew up as CLR which wasn't that big of a deal, while my sister in laws initials are SNM....
