I've been debating on asking for a fetal baby doppler, other than that I want some new sneakers. I suck at christmas lists..

I just want to say that Hannukah has nothing to do with Christmas other than the fact that it's in the same month. It is a totally separate holiday for the Jewish ppl

ya but's not this big gift grabby thing like xmas is. ppl usually get small gifts, stocking stuffer type stuff. it's really a small holiday in jewish religion, it's just been "glorified" by western society.

I think the OP was just trying to be inclusive of everyone, regardless of affiliation. I also have a lot of Jewish friends that get more than "small stocking stuff type stuff" for Hannukah. Just like Christmas, not everyone celebrates the same way.

ETA: To actually answer the question: I asked mostly for baby items (cloth diapers, the baby bullet, and a few more things). I don't feel right asking for stuff I want when there's a ton of baby stuff I'm going to need soon. I also asked for maternity clothing, and baby yarn,

it's all good. some ppl don't know that they are 2 separate holidays. hannukah is the celebration of the jewish ppl being able to practice their religion again after it was taken away, and then the 8 days thing comes from the oil that supplied them light ... long story

but to answer your question.......... I really have NO clue what to "ask" for christmas. i mean, i would love a new bra, but i doubt by my H is going to go searching for one haha.

I don't celebrate anything , but I'm gonna ask my dad to take advantage of the after Christmas sales and buy me a pregnancy pillow. He's been asking me what he can help with, and I think this is what I want.

I'm working on crocheting a blanket already. lol Yarn is a great idea for Christmas because people can buy as much or as little as they want. That said, I barely have to buy more yarn throughout the year if I ask for some at Christmas. :P

Im getting a Medela PIS for Christmas. Generally, I don't know what Dh is going to get me, but this was a really practical gift we discussed and there was a great sale we couldn't pass up.

I'd also like some yarn to crochet with!

Christmas isn't gift grabby. People are gift grabby. The huge commercial part of Christmas isn't really part of Christmas. That would be media and stores. It is a religious holiday for Christians and not even the biggest or most important in the liturgical calendar. (That would be Easter) EDIT Biggest in the church, not biggest according to stores or non-religous things. We were always taught Easter was the high point of the liturgical year.

As for presents, my husband and I don't usually exchange presents. Actually my family doesn't exchange presents between the adults. We do buy our own kids presents. So I guess there's nothing really on my list. We will be buying a new camera after Christmas because we need one, that's kind of a treat for us.

EDIT to fix

This!!!

I asked for either gift cards to maternity store clothes (since its hard to shop for what will fit, etc) or a few books that I've wanted. I like to keep it simple.

I asked DH for some particular comic books, I'm getting him a pair of laser cut dice for DnD (supposedly far better balanced than molded and tumbled dice). We usually don't spend a lot on each other for Christmas, just little things that we've been wanting.

Last year our in laws got us ketchup, mustard, saran wrap, and canned food (I am so not even joking. It was weird, yes. We're pretty sure Christmas just came around and she'd just been shopping at Costco and was like, "***, what do I do? I have all this extra stuff. I'll wrap that.") and this year we figured it would be something a bit like that but my MIL offered to buy the changing table that goes with the crib we have. It's way more than I would have ever expected and I'm so grateful.

I admittedly am hard to shop for because I honestly don't want anything that would be easily purchased. When people ask me I usually reply: I don't know, these twins to come out healthy, etc.  But I did see this necklace at the jeweler that I really like so I told DH. It is a key with a ruby stone.

Yeah, it totally sucks as a holiday.  8 days of socks.  Yay.  When I was around age 7 or 8, my parents started celebrating Xmas in addition to Hannukah, for the sake of my older brother and I.  So we would have a tree (only rule, no angel ornaments and we had a wooden horse on top) and also light the Hannukah candles, we'd get 8 days of socks and crappy tasting chocolate coins, and then the real presents on Xmas.

For those that don't know, and along the lines of what Russian Momma was saying - while Xmas is of huge importance to Christians, religiously, Hannukah has relatively small religious significance.  Hannukah importance and celebration has been blown up by Western culture so that Jewish families do not feel left out at Xmas time.

Ha ha, it was a little surreal, but it was indeed everything that we used. Even the 12 pack of canned diced tomatoes, and the 40pk box of microwave popcorn. :) A lot of our friends were like, "Wow, what crappy gifts," but we really had no complaints. We had asked them not to get us gifts beforehand because they did a lot for us last year and really went out of the way to help us when both of us had our hours cut at our jobs and were in bad shape. I think they might have thought that by getting us essentials and basics like that we wouldn't be able to argue or refuse? Ha ha. It honestly made for the most hilarious Christmas ever.

I'm thinking on asking DH for a gift certificate to a salon to get my hair done. This has been the longest I've gone without touching up my hair & I'm feeling frumpy.

lmao at the Hanukkah stuff.  Come on now.

I asked for a new camera lens for xmas and some editing software.  Other than that, I really only want baby stuff.

Oh, but my parents bought us a mattress for our spare room, which is really more for them when they come and visit and eventually for DD1.  We asked for it, so it's not like they're selfish or anything.

Wow, first who made you the expert on holidays in December and the way people celebrate them?  Also to say that Christmas is gift grabby but Hanukkah isn't is insane.  People are gift grabby not the holiday.  Hanukkah can be just as gift grabby as Christmas.

You're hilarious!
