rude rude rude...

I understand that "we" can be a bit more emotional and sensitive these days but I'm pretty sure everyone around me is just straight up rude. Yesterday a women (I barely know) asked if I was having a boy, because "When your pregnant with a boy your nose gets bigger and wider and your nose looks really big and wide" (I'm have a girl, btw) and last week long story short a girl told me to remember that "you're eating for 2, not 2 football teams" I'm I over reacting or are these comments totally unnecessary and ugly?!

I'm haaving the same issues! (Most with girls at work, but I work with several teenagers) I have been just (calmly) letting people know that they're comments are rude and hurtful. and if they say something again, I snap back with something witty and rude myself. Smile

Good luck!

Other people (cough cough, me) think pregnant woman can do anything. Meaning: Slap them in the face!! That's ridiculous! It irks me that someone would say anything like. Especially with the nose and boy thing, who the crap came up with that!

So...just punch them in the face and they'll never ask you anything again Wink

Since becoming pregnant, my B!tch hormone has been running rampant. And I've been letting it, especially with people like this. Some lady poked me the other day when she thought I cut in line in front of her....I let her HAVE IT. And man did it feel good...she didn't say another word :)

When I was pregnant with my first (who turned out to be a boy) some woman told me that I was having a girl because when she was pregnant with her daughter she got really wide in the back too.  Uh, thanks.

I think Fail Blog should  have a tab or category for this subject. I don't know where people come up with the stuff they say!

Okay, those comments are definately rude. Pregnancy and parenthood open the door for rude comments though. People all the sudden think they can share whatever pops in their head at the moment. I remember when I took DS to the grocery store one time an old lady scolded me because he was crying in his carseat. I didn't bother explaining to her that he had just had his shots and everytime he moved his leg he cried because it was sore.

I haven't dealt with any rude comments first hand yet, but I"m sure they will come rolling in once I start showing.  I've heard lots of crazy things from my friends and I think a great way to handle it is to be honest but not rude (then they will make a side eyed remark about being hormonal). Look them in the eye and say "Wow, I know my emotions may bit a little heighten, but you really hurt my feelings!"  and under my breath (screw you biotch) Surprise

Nope. They're rude. A lady co-worker told another lady co-worker, "She really ballooned up while we were gone!" Ballooned? Really? Whatevs.

Some women are insecure and like to use the pregnancy excuse to talk about how big or fat or balloony or otherwise inferior you are. In the end, you're growing a baby, and that's awesome. It's NBD

Yikes, those comments are definitely rude. But ditto what a PP said. Pregnancy/motherhood is a time when random strangers feel they can say whatever the h*ll they want to you.

Those are horrible comments!

For the first time I got a "OMG you're huge! You must be having twins!!" and when I said that I'm definitely not having twins it was followed by "Are you sure? You look really big for just one baby to be in there."

It's the first time a comment actually bothered me :/

^^Truth. For some reason everyone and their mother is suddenly a medical expert when they see a pregnant lady.

When people come at me like that I guess my bitchy side comes though, I had a woman argue with me once and I told her to back off because I know I have a bigger attitude. I think the problem I have with the most is, they don't know i'm pregnant because I am plus size and they don't ask, but if I start to feel threatened I go straight mommy bear on them lol

Wow!! That was rude. I hate that people think that they can tell pregnant women anything too. A couple weeks ago a co-worker told me that my kneck was getting darker, but that was ok because your kneck gets darker when you are having a girl. Confused

I totally agree! What's wrong with people? I had been fighting a cold so was in bed for most of the morning when my brother in law shows up and say, "wow, now you look pregnant". Thanks you insensitive donkey.

That makes me happy I'm a stay at home mom and don't see many people! I would be punching people if they said that too me!
