What material for infinity scarves?

I wan't to make a couple infinity scarves for Christmas gifts. What material do you think would work best and do you have any other advice? I am a very novice sewer, but I figure it can't be too hard. TIA!

I personally would use a jersey knit if I was sewing. I'm horrible at sewing - I can knit a thousand times better which is what I would do but it is time consuming.

I used a jersey knit when I made them because I liked the extra stretch for them. I have also cut up old t-shirts and made them too (still a jersey knit). But you could use a non-stretchy fabric too.

I make them out of old t-shirts...they're so comfy! So jersey. But I recommend this pattern:

I used sweater knit. It's perfect because it's not only stretchy, but warm.
