Ergobaby question

I just ordered my new ergobaby online. So excited for it to get here.

My question is have any of you used the infant inserts for your first child/children? I'm debating on getting a moby wrap or not. But I found I can get the ergo infant insert for only 25 online. Where a wrap is more like 40 something.

Thoughts??

I would probably go for the moby... The ergo is a bit bigger and the moby is more cozy for the baby.... Plus the moby seems better for around the house and if your in a cold climate when LO comes you can run errands and just put the moby on before leaving home and put the baby unit when you get to your destination and wrap your coat around them to keep warm... No lugging car seats and strollers in the winter!

I believe the insert is for babies under 8lbs??  DD was under 6 when she was born and wasn't 8lbs till almost 2 months so we got it.  We also go tthe moby though and I have to say that she was much more comfortable in that.  I returned the insert because it wasn't necessary once she started using the Ergo.  I have 3 carriers the Ergo, Moby, and the Bjorn and the Ergo is my favorite and most comfortable once the baby gets bigger, I also really like the Bjorn because it was quicker to use on shopping trips and DD could face out, which she loved to do until she was able to ride the shopping cart.

It's for 7-12 lbs.  I had one with DS and it worked fine but he was big and outgrew it quickly.  I didn't want a moby last time because it was so hot.  I did buy a moby this time since this will be a winter baby so (assuming I like it) I don't think we'll use the ergo right away.

I got the insert but for some reason I have a fairly irrational fear of using a soft carrier like a Moby though so that wasn't an option for me.

I had a Moby, Ergo, and Snugli when I had DS1.

The Moby was my favorite for the itty bitty stage.  When he became more curious and started leaning all over the place it was time to retire the Moby.  T

he Ergo definitely gets an A+ for the older babies IMO.  I was able to put him on my chest for hours at a time (went to the zoo with a friend for a few hours) when I was pg with my twins, and while I could feel his weight, it wasn't uncomfortable.

For some reason, I've never been able to wear a baby on my back comfortably.

I am planning on using both.. didn't do the insert with DD, but used the moby when she was a newborn.  This time I'm hoping for the ease of the ergo with insert at times as well as the comfort of the moby.  I may get a ring sling too.  I think you've got to try out a few carriers and see what works for you and baby.

I was given the insert for a gift and never used it.  I would just wrap up the baby swaddled and maybe fold a blanket underneath him so he sat up higher.  I never felt that he was going to fall our or anything.

I used a woven wrap when my daughter was older 4-8 months often.  The moby being stretchy will only be usable for a short time until the baby gets to heavy and it is hard to get a good and safe fit.

I have never been comfortable with a sling but I"m trying again this time with a hotsling pouch so we will see.  I love my ergo, its one of my top baby product loves.

Don't know why I hadn't thought of this!! I bought a Moby this time because I hated the carrier I had last time with DD but was concerned about putting the Moby on in the parking lot...

I bought the Moby for DD2, and she hated it. Plus I never really got the hang of wrapping it. We bought the Ergo when she was around 6 months, and she was fine with that. I'm planning to buy a ring sling for DD3. I've also heard that you can use a blanket in the Ergo to act as the infant insert.
