Trying to keep calm..

I have had cramps from day one (now 7.5weeks) and last Thursday the cramps were on one side and this being my first time pregnant I called my Dr. and since it was late in the evening she had me go to ER.  At the ER they did an u/s and everything was fine and we could also see the heartbeat. So, I have been feeling very blessed and happy that everything was fine and then yesterday the cramps picked back up a little and I started spotting( very small amt) dark brown when I urinate.  I called the docs office and since I have another u/s next week they said just call back if it gets worse and if not they will see me next week.  I am trying not to be too concerned but of course I am :/  Anyone else have something similar? I guess I am just looking for some comforting words :) Thanks!

Try not to worry because right now, nothing is alarming.  Cramping is normal as your uterus grows.  Spotting is really common and brown blood is old blood.  It normally is no big deal.  Obviously you'll want to keep an eye on and follow your doctor's orders but right now, it's one of those unfortunate stress-inducing things that many people experience.

I had brown spotting for about 45 days when I was almost 8 weeks. Everything checked out fine. Just keep an eye on it and try to get some rest. Hang in there.

I'm sorry it's been stressful for you. It is encouraging that you had a great ultrasound. Keep yourself hydrated. I've found I get a bit crampy if I have neglected my water intake.

Just out of curiosity -- did they check you for a UTI when you were at the ER?  Sometimes UTIs can cause cramping and spotting.

No but they did use a catheter and then do the transvaginal u/s so I thought maybe that could have caused the spotting?  But it was last Thursday I had that done so not sure if I would just now be spotting.

I had brown spotting, red bleeding and some small clots with both my two boys until about 20 weeks. I thought for sure I had miscarried but after several ultrasounds and lots if waiting and worrying, everything was just fine. A cause was never pinpointed but the doctor suspected my cervix was just very friable and bled easily.

All the being said, it's impossible to say things will be fine. I understand your worry, and that's completely normal! This pregnancy, I haven't had a drop if spotting so far and I'm STILL worried. LOL. I think it's only natural. I don't think you should panic at this point. These things do turn out perfectly fine all the time!

Good luck!
