TTC after Mirena... Cycle where am I?!

Ok, had 2 mirenas for a total of 8 years. Had normal cycles during the first and no periods during the second. Had it removed nov. 10, 2012, had bleeding from the 12 to 22 10 days moderate to heavy have had all neg opks had some cramping very random but no sign of period. I've been reading lots of horror stories about messed up cycles after iud removals so now I'm worried. I have no idea where I am in my cycle so it's been impossible to chart. Been so long since I've had a period that I don't even know when I would normally expect one. I really want to ttc but I'm so scared that I'm going to find out that I'm infirtile or something. There has to be someone that's experienced this that has had success... Give me some hope here!! Going baby crazy!!

I would start CD 1 on the first day you started bleeding. But maybe to be on the safe side wait until your next peroid and start counting the first day of bleeding as CD 1. I had my Mirena taken out in June and so far my cycles have been crazy ranging from a 35 day cycle to a 53 day cycle and we've been trying since June to get pregnant.

Everyone is different though. It could take your body a shorter time to adjust than it is taking mine.

Going off of hormonal birth control can cause your body to be out of whack for a while. It sounds like you got your period after you had your Mirena removed, and you are now waiting for your second one, correct?

As I mentioned, it is very normal to have whacky cycles after coming off of BC, so I would definitely say that you don't really need to start worrying yet. If you go 60 days without a period (or a BFP), call your doctor to get your period jump-started with medication.

I would highly suggest you read the newbie link at the top of the page - it is full of great information. In addition, the website Fertility Friend has great tools for charting your BBT, CM, and other fertility indicators. They have great tutorials that help you understand your fertility better.

Good luck!

Personally I would just start charting now to get in the habit and be able to look for signs of ovulation (thermal shift, change in CM). I'm new to this too and just had mirena removed at the end of november. I had a week of light spotting, but no real bleeding yet.

It really has only been a month since you had your IUD removed. If you go 60 days without a period then consult your dr. to jump start your cycle. I really don't think there is any reason for you to be concerned at this point. If you're looking for success stories you might be better off in the 1st trimester board though. Everyone here is trying to get pregnant and has not necessarily been pregnant before. Deep breaths. :)

I say just relax, it's been a little over a month since you got it out. Your body will regulate. I had my Mirena taken out in August. I treated my immediate bleeding as a period and started charting/temping. I have been pretty lucky to have been very regular since. I would say start temping now, even if you don't know where you are, just start somewhere. I do have to add that I can relate to the worries of fertility issues after Mirena. You hear so many stories both ways. I'm just trying to relax and let it happen, temping for me gives me a sense of control.

Give it time, you're body will be back to normal eventually. I had Mirena as well and my cycles are back to normal.

Thanks for all the positiveness ladies. I know it's still early but it's been 3 years since my last period so I'm kind of nervous not knowing what's going on with my body and I've been doing nothing but psyching myself out reading horror stories.

I just had mine removed this morning.  My MW said to expect some withdrawal bleeding that may seem like a period.  I asked her if I should just consider that CD1 and start temping as such.  She said yes, because I should see a thermal shift for ovulation.  Once that happens I can re-orient my chart/cycle accordingly.

I know I'm jumping the gun and worrying too soon. My cycles before my second round of mirena were perfect. I knew exactly when I would get my period. I guess not having it for 3 years and not knowing what's going on with my body is what's concerning me. And all I've been doing is reading horror stories. Hadn't seen anyone say that they bled for 10 days after removal either so I didn't know if that was normal or not. I have a preconception appointment with my OB next month so we will see what she says. I'm not really trying until I get my first period. I would really like to be able to track my cycles before I TTC. I just like knowing what's going on.

I just had mine removed Nov. 21. I started bleeding 3 days later. On Sunday I was hoping to see a + OPK soon but instead started my period again. So know I'm on CD4 and temping to see what my body is going to do. It's just a wait and see at this point. Plenty of people get pregnant after IUD removal (some right away) so I wouldn't worry yet.

I had my mirena out on 8/27 and my first cycle after that was crazy.. but since then I have been normal. If I were you I would go ahead and start charting, if you think you haven't O'd yet then you will see a thermal shift when you do O. GL!

I had my mirena removed october 25th and had a serious hormonal crash, like raging biatch cant be around anyone crash. I had spotting almost a whole month after. I got my first real period nov 10th and ovulated over thanksgiving weekend. BFP, DEC 5th 10 DPO.

Granted I had my mirena in for only about 6 months. Not sure how it would affect you over an 8 year time period.

In August, we had a preconception appt. with my OB GYN. During that appt. we decided that I would have the Mirena iud removed on Nov. 5th, and he put me on a prenatal vitamin. So on Nov. 5th he removed the IUD, he told that I should start my period in the next couple of days and to count that as my first to chart. Which on the 8th I started my period and continued bleeding until the 14th.  (I had some what of normal periods with the IUD. For the past five months my period would start on or around the 18th of each month.) So now it's the 12th of December and I haven't had a positive PT and I haven't started my period. I understand the frustration, bc I am to.

*Please keep in mind, that I am completely new to all of this (This is my first post ever and also TTC)

Lurking:::::

I had my Mirena for 4.5 years. I didn't have a period the whole time. I had some light removal bleeding 3 days afterwards and then my period returned 37 days later. I also crashed big time after removal. PMS/pregnancy symptoms like mad. I was an emotional wreck.

I started temping and using OPKs. I would suggest you do the same. It was great knowing what my body was doing. Plus, the fear of not ovulating was put to rest because my O was confirmed by temping.

I know several ladies who were pregnant within a few cycles, other it takes longer. Just be patient (as hard as that may be), and give your body time to regulate.
