Another anterior placenta question

Sorry to intrude here before my time, but have a quick question about this. At my 9w ultrasound my ob said that it looks like my placenta will be in front.

For those of you who have an anterior placenta, did the Doppler work early on? I've seen mixed info on this. I have a sonoline B and heard it with my daughter at 10 weeks, but of course the placenta was in the back. I'm not sure what my ticker says, but I'm currently 11 weeks. I keep trying but I'm getting nothing. I know I need to not worry, just curious what others' experiences were, especially if you had purchased or rented a Doppler to use at home. Thanks for any insight.

I have an AP, and I was able to hear the hb (after lots and lots and lots of searching!) at 9.5ish weeks.


BFP #1: 10/27/11; EDD 6/27/12; mmc 11/27/11 @9w4d (Baby measured 6w).
BFP #2: 2/17/12; EDD 10/29/12; heart rate of 78bpm on 3/12/12 @7w (Baby measured 6w); no hb 3/19/12 @8w; D&C 3/20/12.
BFP #3: 7/23/12; EDD 4/2/13; miscarried one twin 8/11/12 @5w6d, remaining twin just may be my rainbow.

I have an anterior placenta and haven't had any problems finding baby's HB with my home doppler. Good luck!

I don't have a doppler, but my OB got the hb at my 10w appointment.

The baby is still very small and has lots of padding in front of it. It might be normal to not hear baby yet on a doppler at home for sure or even in the doctors office. I didn't hear DD1 with my home doppler until 13weeks or so.q

My OB was able to find it around 12w with my first pg (AP).  Try not to worry, if you're too freaked, ask to go to your OB to have a HB check.

I wasn't able to hear mine at my 8w appointment so we did an u/s. That being said, I'm not sure the placenta placement has much to do with it that early. It's not very big at that point. Not sure it would actually affect whether you could hear it or not.

Thanks for your info, guess I'll just wait until my nt scan next week or have my husband try. I'm also wondering of the Doppler is less sensitive than it used to be or something, I lent it to my friend during her pregnancy so maybe something happened to it. It seems like some of my heartbeat sounds are more muffled than I remember them being.

My doctor could not find the heartbeat with the doppler until 16 weeks. At 14 weeks he had to go get the ultrasound machine.

I am now 25 weeks and the doctor found the heartbeat at each appt with no problem for me.
