Kentin - for a girl?

WDYT of Kentin for a girl? My Dad's name was Kent and I'd really like to figure out a way to feminize it. DH thinks it sounds too masculine. What do ya'll think? Does anyone have any other suggestions on how we might be able to work Kent into a feminine name?

Aweful. What about just choosing a name that starts with K? Or Kendell (even though im not a fan of that name...I can at least stomach it on a girl) or something thats a bit more familiar on a girl?

I agree with your DH.  This just doesn't seem like a good name for a girl.  However, I love that you're trying to honor your father so I did some googling and found out that the name Kendall is an town in Ireland which is in the valley of the river of Kent.  So maybe that could be a roundabout way of incorporating it.  Or you could try Kendra, Kaitlyn.  Or Kent could be used as her middle name.

Kendall, Kendra, Kenna, Kenley

Or like pp's use a K name or Kent as middle name.

I failed to mention that neither of us are a big fan of a lot of other K names (other than Kate). I may just hold on to the name and hope for a boy for the next kid.

Do you think it'd be odd if we used Kent as a middle name? We really like Alexandra and I kind of like Alexandra Kent. Hmm...

Yep, Kentin's terrible. If you guys aren't into other K names and want to honour your dad I think an obviously feminine first name with Kent as the middle name is the way to go. Alexandra Kent sounds good to me.

eta: I think using your father's actual name as a middle name is a much better way to honour him than making up a name by tacking a few letters on to the end of it to 'feminise' it, or just using another K name.

ewww. nms.

i think kent would be fine for a middle name if you're set on using it and dont like other k names. it's really the only option, apart from trying to tack on a bunch of feminine letters to the end of a male name.

Kennedy?

If you're stuck on Kent & dislike any other K names, keep it as a middle.

It's really bad. I think honoring your dad by using a family name as a mn is much better.

Yeah... definitely not. As a middle name, Kent is fine. Alexandra Kent sounds great. But then I'd seriously consider if you'd want to have a DD with the mn Kent and a DS with the first name Kent as well, since you mentioned hanging on to it and using it for a boy.

Kenton/Kent is a very masculine name.  Kentin is a misspelled version and not girly at all.

If you feel like you're trying to "force" the name to fit on a girl... well.. you're right.. it is forced and that's never good.

I think Kentin and Kentley are just terrible.  If you don't like some of the other suggestions, why not just make her middle name be Kent?  I think that would be really nice.

I think using Kent as a mn would be perfectly acceptable. Kentin as a first name? Not so much.

Kentin and Kentley are awful! Why not save the name Kent for if and when you have a boy? Otherwise, I don't see how you can feminize the name Kent.

Sorry, it just sounds way too "made up" for my tastes.  I agree with AP on the Kendell idea.

I am married to a Kenton.  (goes by Kent) and it reminds me of a 220 lb hairy man name.  :)  Its a old family name for him.

OP you are really reaching...even though its a REALLY thoughtful way to honor your dad, I think she and you (down the road) would be happier with a more feminine first and middle name.
