Sex after birth

I heard different ladies talk about how their first attempt at sex after a birth has happened anywhere from 2 weeks to months, sometimes depending on tearing and feelings.  Most of the people that have commented have talked about their episiotomies.  I didn't have an episiotomy, but tore INTERNALLY.  (LO pulled her elbow down as she came out and tore me the length of my vagina, then burst a cyst and torn off to one side.).   With that type of damage in mind, how long did you take you ladies to feel comfortable with sex.

Ouch. Ok, LO is over 3 mths now and sex still hurts. I had an almost 3rd degree tear. He was also 9lb4oz at birth so maybe that has made it worse... Good luck, really.

I had a 4th degree tear with DS1 he broke my rectal wall on the way out so it took quite a few times until sex didn't feel uncomfortable. We haven't had sex yet but I don't expect it to be as uncomfortable as I had a 2nd degree tear this time.

I had a third degree tear and some internal tears as well.

We've attempted sex twice. Both times it sucked and was too painful, so I quit... The attempts were about 8 and 10 weeks or so.

The earliest I've heard is 6, maybe 5, weeks pp... to give the uterus time to heal from where the placenta was attached and whatnot, tearing may have some to do with it too. with DS and DD1, I had 2nd degree tears and with DD2 I had a 1st degree...6 weeks wait for all... obviously, with DD2 I'm only 2 weeks in... I've said it before in other threads: Lube is your friend. My body doesn't lubricate itself down there for a while, but it's not painful (at least for me... maybe other women have pain...?) just sort of uncomfortable and it takes a few tries to get comfortable.

I had a 3rd/4th degree tear and cried when the OB gave me the okay for sex at my 6w PP check up.  We did it and it wasn't nearly as painful as I expected.  That said, it took until about 6 months PP before it wasn't at least sort of uncomfortable every time.  To be honest, at 15 1/2 months PP, some positions are still uncomfortable now that never were before.

I had a vaginal birth and torn down there but I had sex 8 weeks after delivery and we used a condom and it felt okay. Are you using a condom? I believe it helped alot based on the brand we used. Maybe try a condom brand that has better feeling and can help slide him in better (sorry for the TMI).

With my first, I didn't even attempt to have sex till about 6 months after she was born.  I had almost 4th degree tearing and was not sewn up correctly.  This time, I feel like we'll be able to attempt at around the 6 week mark, but I'm sure it will still be uncomfortable.  Only 2nd degree tearing this time.

I had a second degree year and our first time pp was 7 weeks after. My OB told me to try the spooning position first and use a lot of lubricant. We did both of those and it was still uncomfortable. We've only done it twice pp because of the pain. I'm sure your pain would be much worse than mine. Has your OB cleared you?

I had a c-section ( after a few hours of pushing ) and it still hurt A LOT!  We gave up and had to try a few nights until we actually really "finish".  This was at about 8 weeks post baby.  I would say it didn't actually feel ok until 8 months or so...good luck.
