BFP! then....BFN?

I got my BFP last night. My period is due in 5 days (I know it was early to test, but we have been TTC and I was anxious). Then, this morning, I took another test and...BFN. What gives?

This will be our second child, so I know what a BFP looks like. I'm not a crazy lady who imagines lines. 

Both tests were First Response tests with red dye. I also took a dollar test last night and it had a faint line. I don't have another dollar test on hand to use this morning.

A couple of things could have happened:  1.  Could have been a chemical pregnancy, 2. The test that gave you the BFN could have been faulty.  I would hold my pee for at least 4 hours buy another test and test again.  I think most people would say wait a few days, but I know that I couldn't either.

So out of 3 tests, 2 were positive? Is that right? Could have been a false negative then but since you're early I'd wait 5 more days then test again. Good luck!

I am friends with President Obama. I asked him to dress up in an Easter Bunny costume and show up at my parents' house with a giant check for $1 million a la Ed McMahon on Easter Weekend. We were going to make them think that they had won Publishers Clearinghouse sweepstakes LOL. As soon as they answered the door, we had our friend stage a robbery - they made it look like everyone in the Publisher's Clearninghouse van was violently murdered. They threw the "bodies" out of the van onto the street and peeled out. We had a fake ambulance and police show up. Then my parents' neighbors came by with a basket of kittens - they were SO cute! Just when my parents were so freaked out by seeing kittens after a murder/robbery AND having won $1 million, we had Pres. Obama take off the Easter Bunny head and say "Surprise!! You're going to be grandparents!" My parents will never forget that moment. - Pillowass

Hmmm - 2 out of 3 makes me think you're pregnant. But I'm not a doctor.

I would say it is just early and you are pregnant. Interestingly enough I got stronger lines in the evening than in the morning early on.  It never hurts to call the doctor though if you want confirmation.

What color dye is on the test? Blue dye is known for false positives. Try a pink dye test?

I would try a digital or a one minute first response pink dye.

I remember taking a pink dye test early morning at 10dpo, negative, and later that day after lunch i took it again, and i got a positive. For some reason my morning urine didnt have alot of the pregnancy hormone, but after lunch when i ate, and into the evening you could clearly tell it was a positive.

5days before is pretty early to get a positive so I bet you are just really early.  I didn't get a positive until the day before my period was due.

Just wanted to add that if you're really early, a digital might not be the best idea IMHO.  I kept getting REALLY faint lines so I thought ok I'll take a digital, it won't lie.... but it said negative.   It lied.  I would give it a couple of days and take another old fashioned test.

This, and what Unpossible said, wait a few days and retest. Always go with pink dye or digi tests
