Inflatable Bath Tub?

My baby loves his baths.  And he is getting bigger.  I'm thinking of taking out of his little infant tub.  BUT I am not sure I am ready for him to be in the big hard tub.  Has anyone used one of those transition inflatable tubs?  I know I probably don't need one, and they take up space.  But will I love it and feel better inching toward a big boy bath?

We have one and we love it. Uses less water to fill it and my son seems to really enjoy it.

I'm wondering the same thing. My son is way too big for the little plastic infant tub and he mainly uses it to push off of and stand up. Not safe! I've tried a couple different mats that stick to the bottom of the bathtub to prevent slipping, thinking he could sit on that but they turned out to be crappy.

We used one for DD and it worked out great.  She used it until she was almost a year old.  DS seemed to think it was a great surface for pushing up on, so I just got a non-slip bath mat for the big tub.  But if I could use the inflatable one with him,  I would!

(The bath mat we are using is the IKEA one that is shaped like an alligator, if anyone is interested.  Amazon also sells it).

We have used the inflatable seal bathtub since about 4 months (when he got too big for the kitchen sink) and I love it. It does not take up as much water and he loves to splash around.

I think they are unnecessary wastes of space and money. Just one more piece of baby stuff that has such a short shelf life. He's fine in the regular tub. DD2 started using the big tub at 2 months. NBD.

What's wrong with the kitchen sink??? DD2 is 30 inches long, 24 lbs, and she fits just fine in our kitchen sink. No bending over, no worrying about slipping, and if its clean enough to have dishes you eat off of, its clean enough for your kid's tush. When she is able to stand without falling, we will transfer her to the tub.

We got a super-thick bathtub liner thing. It's like the normal plastic with suction cups non slip liner, but instead of plastic, it's sort of... woven foam? Hard to describe, but it's quite cushy about 1/4 inch thick. We just put that down before her bath and she sits on that. No slipping or sliding, and plenty of cushioning if she should fall.

I agree with this.

We bought this bath mat for the big tub: http://www.amazon.com/Clevamama-Clevabath-Mat-and-Kneeler/dp/B006PASIL2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355524874&sr=8-1&keywords=clevamama+bath+mat

It works really well and is really soft! Prior to buying the bath mat we were putting large towels in the bottom of the tub, but drying them was such a PITA (we don't have a dryer).

We have the ducky tub from target that we love. LO has been using the tub for a few months (he outgrew his infant tub around 6 months). The only part I don't like is having to blow up the tub every time I go to give LO a bath. Other than that it's a good tub. I'm getting ready to retire it though; I feel like with LO starting to stand up, etc in the tub it's safer for him to stand directly on the bottom of the tub (with a mat, of course) than on a inflatable, uneven surface

I'm going to be getting one of those baby seats for the big tub here soon.... I don't know how well they work but I def feel it would be a good thing to have mine harnested in being that he is such a little mover. I've been looking at reviews on Amazon...Will let you know how it goes :)

We use our bumbos in the tub. It's the only way to bathe two babies at once, other than buying a bath seat, but why have two things? We have been doing it this way since 3 months. We're debating when we can transition them to just sitting in the tub. They do very well sitting, but I still don't trust them.  We have a cushy liner, but I still worry about them hitting their heads.  Hopefully by 1 year?

We have been giving our daughter a bath in the regular tub since she could sit unassisted.  I didn't even think about getting a transition tub like you mention as I agree with some of the others that it is just one more thing to take up space and will be short lived.  You are there with your child so can make sure that he or she doesn't fall over or get hurt.  I say don't waste your money.

We got the seal around 4-6 months because he outgrew his infant tub. He loves the thing and so do I... I don't have to clean the big tub and its quick to fill... plus he's not very careful about not tipping over or standing up so I like the bumper between the tub & him. But if your LO is already 9 mos + it might be worth just going to the big tub w/ a mat.  Its not necessary for sure... most baby things aren't.
