Transfering baby to his own room

It is way past time for my son to go into his own room.

He is still in the pack and play in my room and cosleeping.

I love the closeness and being able to roll over and feel him breathing but he sleeps poorly in the pack and play and I sleep poorly when we co sleep.

Any advice for helping baby and mommy transition into sleeping in his own room?

I have a video monitor with night vision and he is getting a cloud 9 turtle for Christmas.

TIA

I will be watching your post. Mine sleeps in her crib in my room. I love knowing she is ok. I love hearing her breathe and move but I know she needs to go to her own room. DH and I both said we would move her at 1 yr but I wonder if she needs to go now. I am worried she is going to have separation anxiety. I have a video monitor too with night vision so I will be able to c her. Good luck!

We moved ds out at 3 mnths. He didn't care at all. He is still a badish sleeper so im up 23 times a night. I think you just have to bite the bullet so to speak. I can think of any other way. Does lo nap in the crib? Gluck it will be fine. You can check in every time you wake up and that will help. The first week i probably got up 15 times to check on ds.. better do it now or lo will be 4 sleeping in bed with you cause thats where lo only feels safe.

We transferred Rowan over to her room when she was about 6 months old and honestly, it's been the best for all of us. She sleeps better in her own room than she did in the pack 'n play in our room.

We did the transfer it two stages. First, we moved the pack 'n play into her room (which was not entirely unfamiliar to her, as we always changed her there previously) and she slept in that for two or three weeks, then we got the crib and set it up once she was fully used to sleeping in her own room. At first she was none too pleased with the crib, but then we figured out that the matress was significantly harder than the one in the pack 'n play, so we added a mattress pad beneath the sheet and that worked wonders.

We have a monitor set up, but we only use it for when she's in her room and we're in another part of the house. With each of our bedroom doors open a crack, we can hear her if she wakes up or anything like that.

Both of my children slept in the bassinett and then in the PNP (when they out grew the bassinett) for a while. My dd was about 6 months of age and my ds was about 9 months of age. Honestly they both slept better in their cribs...the PNP matteress is no good for their backs anyway.

I did it in steps....during the day during naps they went into their cribs...I also spent a lot ot time in their room playing throughout the day....I kept telling them this is their room and this is their crib where they will slleep....

It went really well and they slept longer periods.

I tried last night but he can almost climb out of the crib and it made me nervous. Hubby needs to drop the crib but he "Didn't feel like it" so baby slept with me again.

Excuses excuses!
