Ergo questions

I'm thinking of getting an Ergo carrier. My DD is almost 4 months. Does anyone have an opinion on the original vs. performance or sport models?

We got a Bjorn as a gift. She is content in it for maybe 15 to 20 minutes max. I'm worried that she won't like this one either, although I know she will be positioned differently. Does anyone have a baby that did not like the Bjorn, but did like the Ergo?

Is your bjorn the original or the mesh fabric? If its the original then maybe she just gets too warm. The regular ergo has a lot of fabric and can get pretty warm. I'm not sure what ergo model is the most breathable though.

We have the Ergo Performance. We have not used it yet but the fabric is  a lot lighter then the original Ergo.

We have the Ergo sport & love it. Both DH & I can wear him (DH is 6ft tall, I'm 5'1".) The fabric is nice, it has a longer waistband & shoulder straps. We got it when DS was a bit older (we were using the Moby for the first 6 months or so.) 

DS is 15 months & he will still tolerate it at 26lbs.

I've never used a bjorn but my DD and nephew both loved the ergo.  If your bjorn faces out your baby may prefer facing in and like the ergo better.  

 

If you are on the smaller side, I'd go with the regular ergo.  The straps on the sport are very long.  I have the sport and need to tuck them in bc they hang down so low when I'm wearing it.

I tried both the Ergo Performance and Ergo Sport.  I kept the Ergo Performance.  Love it.  The fabric just seemed a bit more breatheable than the sport, more quick-dry in the event that I or DD would sweat which was likely given I bought it for desert hiking.  The Sport fabric is a bit softer, however...not that the Performance fabric is scratchy or otherwise uncomfortable in any way.

Bjorn was okay when DD was tiny but the Ergo is AWESOME. She is content in it for 6 hour flights at 18 months old. Allows her to nap easily too. I can't recommend it enough.

Thanks for the advice! We have the original Bjorn and she faces inward. I'm hoping it's just the position she doesn't like, not being in a carrier in general. I'm still going to try the Ergo, so we will see. The organic seems to be priced the lowest on Amazon, so I might go with that.

I have the sport and like it a lot.  I do wish I would have gotten the Becco Gemini though.  Essentially the same carrier but you can have LO face out.
After 2 losses, DD born 9/6/11 ♥ Little sister due 7/5/13!
