Am I crazy or..? (pre-e question)

Ok so last week I started noticing some weird symptoms that popped up out of no where. I keep getting those stars in your eyes, you know like when you stand up too fast. I keep getting really dizzy and faint for no reason. I keep getting really nauseous and even throwing up randomly (which I know can be other things). So I had a Dr's appointment yesterday and I of course mentioned these things to him and the nurse. They then told me that it could be signs of pre-eclampsia and went on to take my BP. The nurse said my BP was fine and so I didn't have it and it was probably just changes and I needed to make sure to eat & drink (which I had already been doing on a reg basis because of said symptoms) so I said ok whatever they're the professionals and would know.

One thing I forgot to mention to them because honestly I didn't think it was that big a deal but it's been happening for the past few days is I keep getting a lot of bubbles in my urine. So of course I decided to google it and come to find out it's another sign of pre-e. So of course I start stressing about it. I ask DH who was at my appt was the nurse said my BP was and he said 160 over something. Now I know I should know but I know nothing really of how BP works and just googled it too and apparently that is really high??

Now I'm freaking out even more.. I'm thinking I'm going to go to one of those things at a drug store and take my BP again and see what it says. Am I being totally crazy here?? If I do take my BP and it's high I should call them right? What if they say it's no big deal?

Sure, take your BP at the drug store. If it's really high, call.  If it's not, call tomorrow and tell them about your protein concerns and symptoms.  It doesn't sound like an emergency to me, but look at the list of pre-e symptoms online, and if you get the really bad headache or a lot of swelling or big visual spots, go to L&D.  Since tomorrow is Friday, make sure you call early and talk to someone knowledgeable.  Tell them you thought your BP was a little high at your last appt so they will look it up for you and tell them you want a 24 hour urine test.  If they are dismissive, tell them about you are having visual disturbances (what you describe seems more like low blood sugar to me) but don't say stars in case this makes them dismiss it, and tell them you've been throwing up, which is a sign if you haven't been throwing up earlier in this trimester.  One of the symptoms of pre-e on a sheet I have is "a feeling something is wrong" so if you think you should go to the hospital, go.

High-ish, but not close to emergency high.  Mine is this high all the time, but they just say I have high blood pressure that they will watch.  I also have elevated protein, right below the "yes, you have pre-e" mark.  I can see the protein as bubbles, but there are very few.  So if you have "foam" that does not go away in a few seconds, you should still call tomorrow and ask for the 24 hour test that you can do over the weekend.

Actually, a BP of 120/87 is close to perfect. You're not even considered pre-e until your BP reaches around 160/110. The stars in the eyes and dizzy spells, especially right after you stand up, is normal in pregnancy according to my OB. It has to do with circulation and the extra blood your body is carrying. I hope that kind of eases your mind a little.

A BP of 120/87 is pretty near normal. I'm being monitored for pre e. Not only does your BP play a factor but also if there's protein in your urine. At every visit I pee in a cup and they measure the protein out put. High protein along with high BP ( like 140/90 is when they get concerned) are signs of pre e.

If you are still worried I would just call the office. I also agree that feeeling dizzy and seeing stars can be normal pregnancy symptoms. It can also be signs of dehydration.

The bottom number is the one they are most concerned about for pre-e because the top is more prone to be affected by stress.  Anything over 120 on top is considered elevated, but if the bottom number is consistently in the high 80s, they will not consider this normal.  Like I said before, not emergency high, but high enough to keep an eye on it.

120/87 is elevated. For me, I wouldn't call the doctor yet, but I would if the bottom number reached 90. Pre-e is not the only health risk with high bp.

I'd take your BP again.  I have a friend whose BP was normal but she had all the other pre-e signs and then her BP got high suddenly.  Definitely something to watch and call the doctor about if you are concerned.  Good luck.

On a side note, I've also been feeling dizzy here and there and seeing the stars from time to time.
