Prenatal concern..

I am taking New Chapter Perfect Prenatal and it contains herbs. I have heard mixed reviews on having herbs during pregnancy. Anyone know anything about it?

I take the same one. I have no concerns, as it is specifically designed to be a prenatal vitamin. I also took it to my dr when I had my annual/preconception appt and she looked at the label and told me they are fine for content and levels.

ETA I am not pg, just ttc. Didn't realize what forum I had up on my phone, sry. But I still think they are fine or they couldn't be prenatals.

Pretty sure they wouldn't market them as prenatal vitamins if they weren't safe to take as such.

They absolutely market stuff that isn't safe!!!! It most likely isn't FDA approved, so they can put whatever they want in it.   Ex.  The prenatal sold at Vitamin World has a toxic amount of vitamin A in it. It is also relatively well know that a lot of herbal teas marketed as "pregnancy teas" can cause preterm labor and other problems.   I would do some research before I took anything!

TTC since Aug 2011, RE since May 2012. Dx: PCOS,endo, postprandial hypoglycemia DH: SA 1 - low everything, 2- low everything, 3 - good, but WBC, 4 - lost and/or damaged at lab, 5 - low everything July - Letrozole = BFN Aug - letrozole #2 = BFN Sep - NEW RE!! YAY!!!! Move to IVF w/ICSI - ER on Nov 28 - 34 eggs! FX for good fert report!

New Chapter Perfect Prenatal has 5000 iu Vitamin A in it - the upper limit in pregnant women is 3000.  Vitamin A is the reason why you aren't supposed to use retinol when pregnant.

Additionally, it's suggested dandelion and rose hips are avoided in pregnancy. Both in this vitamin

Yes, I switched yesterday to the Megafood Baby & Me Herb free vitamin. Also, the vitamin A isn't considered the harful kind if its 100% beta carotene
