Rock and Play Sleeper

Can anyone give me some input. I have been racking my brain all morning. Rock-n-Play Sleeper or a Pack n Play with a bassinet? I just read about the the sleeper and thought it would be great but i always though the pack and play was good because it could be used to sleep and play in. Price is  not really a different almost the same.

We have both. We plan on using the pack n play in the living room and the rock n play next to our bed. I've read nothing but rave reviews about both. The bass on the PNP flips over into a little changing pad too with just 1 hand, which is an awesome feature!

Both. They're totally different. The rnp is great when they're tiny and easily folds to move from room to room.

The pnp is useful much longer. We still use ours but haven't used the rnp since DS was like 5 mo old

I had a pnp with DS1 and was really happy with it. We used it as a bassinet for the first 3.5 months, and then we kept it at my parents after that, so DS had a place to nap when we visited about once a month. It was also handy when we traveled across country about twice a year.

I looked at the rnp, and all the reviews talking about  flat heads turned me off. I also thought it looked really easy to topple over.

A PnP will be useful far longer than a RnP so we got a PnP

I agree that RNP is more for the early months but the ease of moving it around is really really awesome.  I loved ours.  The flat head thing is for people who left their kid in it for entire days on end.  You shouldn't do that period no matter what device they are in.  Also, it doesn't topple over easily at all.

The PNP will be more useful long term when they are too big for the RNP.  We use our PNP for travel and we definitely needed one because we are on the go a lot.

If you can afford both, I could see how you could use both.  If cost is an issue, I would recommend the pack n play.  My son used his until he was almost 3 (whenever we went out of town, etc.).  I like the bassinet feature as well.

Personally, I do not have a rnp but my friend loved hers.

We were lucky enough to receive both, but if you only want one, I would go with a PNP.  This is the one we received.  We registered for it for a lot of reasons, but partly because the baby can sleep on a slight incline.

We're doing the Rock N Play first and Pack N Play w/out bassinet when baby is a little older. You might be able to get both for around what you'd spend on the PNP with bassinet. Ours combined were $110.

Pack n plays are flat, not all babies sleep well like that. And they are big, we just don't have room for one.  So I got a rock n play.

I also never used the PNP when he got older, other than for overnights at Grandma's.  I never had the need to "cage" him or anything.  I just made the whole house pretty safe.

The docs in our pediatrics practice are pretty strongly anti-RNP Sleeper for extended sleeping.  The surface isn't as firm as recommended & the padding restricts the baby's sleep wiggling.  Depending on the style, the padding & extra cushions can position the baby so that his/her airway is restricted.

We got the thumbs up on a firm bassinet mattress or the PnP with bassinet.

EDIT: I swear I told it to hyperlink.  Sorry.

I have one and was going to use it for her at night in our room. BUT my dog keeps jumping in it. So it will be more of a nap time thing when we are at the grandparents I guess.

I got my Graco pnp with bassinet on sale for under $55, and not on sale you can find them for $70 easy.

This is a Graco pnp with bassinet:

 http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11959539

The pnp with bassinet, is about as basic as Graco makes the pnp.

This is a Graco pnp with bassinet and a napper:

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12319179&searchURL=false

I think parents get confused and think the napper is the bassinet, but it's not. The ability to raise the mattress is the bassinet feature on the pnp.

We got both. I figure that at some point we'll want/need a pack n play so it may as well have a bassinet in it whether we use it or not at least it's a sleeping option that's higher off the ground than the rock n sleeper. We did also get that because of high reviews/recommendations and if he doesn't sleep in it every night it can be where we put him down when doing dishes, showering, etc.

We have both. We will be using the Rock n play for sleeping as newborns (atleast mine) hate sleeping flat.

I agree with this, but if he is sleeping for extended periods of time (AKA through the night) he'll be in the crib.  The RNP is for that time before that when getting them to nap and sleep for more than an hour at a time is a miracle.  With DS, that was for the first 2-3 months LOL I'd also use it for naps only.

The RNP is actually banned in Canada so we had no choice, we have a PNP in our living room and a regular bassinet in our bedroom.

seriously?  People are dumb.  I don't understand how it would cause more flat heads than a bassinet.  If people are leaving their kids in either too long it will happen.

I think the RNP is an absolute must have. Newborns sleep so much better in it

They're sleep tools, not babysitters. People use them to watch their kid day in and day out for hours at a time and that's what causes problems with flat heads.

We have an Arm's Reach co-sleeper at our house and the Graco PnP w/ cuddle cove and changing table at my Mom's.

Baby is getting a RnP under the tree from Santa.

We ended up getting both.  In my mind, I imagined the PnP with bassinet in my room for the LO to sleep in.  But I realized that the Rock and Play would be easier to take from room to room so the PnP will stay downstairs and the Rock and Play will stay in our bedroom but I can move it more easily.

We got both and used the RnP much more.  It was on e of the best purchases we made.  The PnP stays at gramma's house and is useful there, and I'm sure we'll need it when DD is bigger.

Ds sleptt in the rnp and hatedd the pnp, so that was our answer. As for flat head concerns, it can be an issue anywhere  but it does also depend on the kid. Ds was born with torticollis and low muscle tone, so he was more vulnerable no matter where he slept since he would not do tummy time and had trouble supporting his head for a while. I would not blame the rnp.
