Holidays and hiding IVF meds :/

Hi again, I have a TON of things I'd like to post/ask - but I'll do them slowly as not to overload the board with just my Q's!!

We celebrate Christmas at our home every year.. Our Parents are the only ones who know about our IVF journey (my MIL - but she's not really part of our life; she only knows because we had to ask her a detailed health history prior - and my FIL and Step-MIL; whom we love, but think "it will just happen someday" out of ignorance.. Fortunately my parents are doctors and 'get it'). We're not telling anyone else, because my a lot of DHs family is extremely judgmental, and he's decided not to tell them.  *Mini vent*

Sooo... IVF meds are all in the fridge, and people always come and go as they please... Any ideas to 'hide' them in there? EEK! Thanks in advance!

What meds are you on? I know so many don't have to be refrigerated, so just make sure that actually have to be in there. I only had a few that had to be so that got hid in a drawer behind some stuff.  You could always put them in a cooler with ice packs in your bedroom when you know you will have guests. Or put them in a unmarked box in the fridge marked 'fruit' or something and tape it shut in case of peekers...

some suggestions:

1) put them in a brown paper bag and label "science experiment" in big bold letters

2) put them in a cooler out of the way (garage?) w/ ice packs

3) find a trusted friend/neighbor in town and hide them in your fridge. if they don't know about your IF, just tell them you have medications that need to be refrigerated and with your family in town there is just no more room!

4) most extreme, buy a small fridge (think dorm fridge) and plug it in your closet or other out of the way place.

These meds do need to be in the fridge; all others are tucked away upstairs... Great ideas! LOL - I'll write "Spoiled Moldy Cheese" on it ;) j/k!

I would put them in a non-clear tupperware container in the back of the fridge. I only had to refridge my low-dose HCG and I hid that in the cheese drawer.

I understand though....I remember people unexpectedly stopping by my house when we were full on into the process and I had my kitchen table set up with my *drug station* with my syringes/vials/alcohol swaps/sharps box...that was fun trying to stear them away from seeing it. :)

We have a bar fridge (back from my dorm room days!) that I would use myself, but it's probably not something that everybody has?

What about using a dummy container in the fridge? Like if none of your relatives drink, use a small beer case?

My Ovulation Chart
TTC with MFI and poor ovulation since 03/11
TCM and progesterone supplements
Early loss in 08/11
MFI Dx in 03/12 Low count, low motility, poor morphology and high levels of anti-sperm antibodies
Treated with supplements and TCM. Much lower on all factors. Count too low to test for anti-bodies
Met with new urologist 11/12
IUI #1 12/12: Letrozole + Gonal-F = BFN
DH started Clomid 01/13
New SA shows 33 million sperm! Thank you Clomid!!!
Discovered I am hypothyroid 04/13 waiting for specialist appointment
Hoping to try IUI again in July?

LOL - I'm in the medical field too; not a biochemist - so you're a little more tuned into physiology/pharmacology it than I am. But still, too funny!

I've had to keep things in the fridge for Christmas presents before, so you could even wrap them & write "Don't open until Christmas."

Maybe you could get a chinese food container and stick them in there.  Or a styrofoam container like you get from the restaurant for leftovers and shove it in the back.  If they find out what is going on and do not like it they can get the black out of your house and your life.  Judgemental jerks.

Married 12-12-04
TTC since 07
me-36 PCOS, Tubal Problems, and polyps removed 7-12
DH - 36 extremely handsome and no fertility problems

Beta 2 1-2-13 - 31
Beta 3 1-4-13 - 53
Beta 4 1/9 - 212!
Ultrasound 1/10 - Nothing completely empty uterus Beta 1/14 - 743; Beta 1/17 - 1704 ultrasound shows nothing. Officially a miscarriage. 1/21 Beta 3900 Dr. says it ectopic. Ultrasound shows a miracle heartbeat right in the uterus where it belongs! Dr. says I can be cautiously optomistic!!! Hang in there baby!

I lived with my IL's for a few months while going through IVF. They always had people over, mostly family, and while they knew the rest of the family didn't. I'm pretty open and honest about what we're doing but MH doesn't care to share. Whenever someone was over I'd arrange the food that I knew no one would eat in front of my meds so they couldn't be seen. We're having people over this weekend in our new house and yet again the fridge is full....I'm just going to ask people what they'd like to drink, "Beer, wine, .......infertility cocktail??? LOL"
