Happy News - CF screen results

Finally got the call from my OB that my CF screen came back negetive on all 32 counts!  WOO!  This was our first big hurdle towards our first IVF, because if I would have been a carrier, we would not be able to proceed with trying for a biological child. 

So I think we are ready to set up our meeting with the genetic counselor now.  Was this required by your RE?  Any info/advice for what to expect?  Any important questions you were sure to ask/wished you would have asked?  I don't believe this is covered by our insurance.. would you mind sharing your OOP costs?

Finished BC and not preventing since June 2010.
Actively trying for baby #1 since July 2011.
SA completed 5/29/2012. No sperm found.
11/12: Dx: Congenital Bilateral Absense of the Vas Deferens.
Genetic Testing needed as this is a mutation of Cystic Fibrosis.
IVF #1 with ICSI planned for 2013.
PAIF/SAIF welcome!

I wasn't required to see a genetic counselor. Is it just because they think YH is a CF carrier? I was given the option to do the CF testing or waive it. I chose to do it and since I'm not a carrier MH didn't have to be tested. Good luck to you!

AMH .97 as of 4/2012!
Him: 27 ~ perfect swimmers
Laparotomy with partial oophorectomy 8/2009 to remove cysts/endo. Stopped BC 4/2010.
Multiple clomid rounds from 11/2010 to 6/2011. ~ All BFN
IUI w/clomid 7/2011. IUI w/clomid & injectables 11/2011 & 1/2012. ~ All BFN
Occasionally using acupuncture.
IVF #1:EPP 5/2012 ~ (4R, 3M, 2F w/ICSI). Both embies txfrd. ~ BFN
BCP to manage Endo from 10/2012 to 12/2012.
PAIF/SAIF always welcome!

TTC#1 since 5.11
Clomid 50mg + TI = Poor Response
Clomid 100mg + TI (x2) = BFNs
Clomid 100mg+IUI#1 (5.6M Post Wash & 1 Follicle) = BFN
Surprise BFP on 1/20/13 EDD: 9/25/13 It's A Girl!!

Before starting TTC, my GYN did bloodwork for CF and a couple other things. (So long ago, I forget!) When we started seeing an RE, they did highly recommend a genetic disease testing on both DH and I. (Counsyl was the name of it--it tested your saliva.)

The cost of our testing was actually covered, because they considered it diagnostic. Hopefully you are pleasantly surprised and it is covered for you, as well.

FSH= 5.4, AFC= 11 Dx: Unexplained w/2% morphology
IUI 1-3: Clomid, Gonal F, Ovidrel + Prometrium = BFN
Acupuncture starting January 2012; IUI 4-5: Gonal F, Ovidrel + Prometrium = BFFN
IVF #1 (Antagonist) w/ICSI & AH: ER 8/7/12--7R/4M/4F; ET 2-8-cells + 1-7-cell embies= BFN
IVF #2 (MDLF)w/ICSI & AH: ER 11/26/12--23R/14M/6F ET 11/29 1 early morula + 2 8-cells; Beta 1 (15dp3dt)= 408; Beta 2 (17dp3dt)= 649 Beta scare :/ ; Beta 3 (19dp3dt)= 1485; 1st u/s 12/28/12= 1 sac with 2 HBs 113bpm EDD= 8/19/13; MIssed MC of identical twin boys D&C @ 8w3d on 1/10/13

YAY!!!

We used Counsyl as well and had to pay $198 OOP for the testing.  (Hubby is a carrier for CF and I am not, yay!)  Not sure why they are requiring you to see a genetic counselor since you are not a carrier unless there are other things to address.  I think Counsyl offers some counseling for free if you used their service.

Great news!!!

When I first started IVF over the summer it was routine policy that the RE test for common things like CF so we didn't have a choice....although I'm not complaining, I'm glad they did test.

March 2012--Clomid --No response-Straight to injects!
April & May 2012-- IUI#1 & #2 = BFN
July 2012- IVF#1 cancelled
September 2012-IVF#1.2--BFN
November 2012- IVF #2 --BFN
January 2013- IVF #3-- BFFN
February 2013--Found a new RE but first back to the Endocrinologist for more diagnostic testing
Absolutely no idea when we can cycle again...looking into DE as well if IVF#4 fails again
PAIF/SAIF encouraged...give me some hope!!

Great news! I am a positive carrier for CF my aunt died from it. My RE asked if we wanted to do genetic screening it wasn't required though. We desided not to do it and moved right on to IVF. Good luck to you!

Trying for a baby since 4/10
DX: Infertile 6/11 Me: LPD, all other blood work clear. May/ 2013 Egg maturity and quality issues.. DH: low sperm motility,low count.
Met with RE start clomid + TI + IUI 5/12= IUI cancelled due to positive Cystic Fibrosis carrier test. DH tested Neg. for Cystic Fibrosis,
6/12 Clomid + TI +IUI=BFN 8/10 IVF consult.
IVF #1 Started BCP 9/2 Lupron 10/11 stims 10/27 ER 11/6!! 5 eggs retreived only 1 mature. FERT report shows none made it.Cancelled cycle.
IVF #2 BCP 11/18 Lupron 12/14
Stims start 12/29 ER 1/8 ET 1/11 put in 1 grade B and 1 grade C. Beta: 1/20=BFN
Second opinion at new clinic TBD
decided to stick with old clinic with new plan.
5/3 started metformin for IVF # 3 set to start in July!!!
