Is this too made up?

I know, if I am asking the question than it probably is but thought I would stick out my neck: Annalyn Grace

My husband's and my grandmas' names are : Anna, Maryanne, Marilyn, and Grace. Is it to much of a stretch, we are trying to honor each of them?

I actually really like Emmalyn but wanted to use Anna for our grandmas and because I personally like Anna better than Emma.

Thoughts?

I'm sorry, but I think that it's awful! :(

Suggestions...

Adrianna Grace

Annabelle Grace

Arianna Grace

Brianna Grace

Gianna Grace

Hannah Grace

Julianna Grace

Savannah Grace

Note: All of these suggestions would honor Anna and Grace. I don't think that you should try to honor all four women in one child's name. Also, I would certainly use Grace as MN because it is beautiful! :)

Making one little girl carry the honor of four women is much, much, much too much for her to handle!

I vote you go with Marilyn Grace, very pretty!

I'm sorry, I don't like Annalyn.

I think it's nice that you are trying to honor all four grandmothers, but I think you are really going to limit your choices if you try to do so. Could you pick one grandmother from each side to honor?

I like Anna by itself, I also like Annabel.

If you really want to include all four, you could consider two middle names. For example, Anna Madeline Grace or something along those lines.

Sure, it's a madeup name, but I actually like it. I think it's pretty.

Isn't there an actress named Annalyn McCord? Not sure how she spells it.

She spells it Annalynne.

I agree that even though the name is made up it is so beautiful and honoring the grandmothers is a great idea. I say go for it.

1. Yes. Too made up.

2. Do you really want to honor all four? I don't know you situation but you're setting the bar very high for any subsequent children to be forced into extreme family names or to feel like their names aren't special.

3. Anna Lynn Grace is real. Go with that if you like the name.

I like the name Annalyn and no it doesn't sound made up. I do like the spelling Annalynne a little more, but that's just my personal preference!

I didn't expand on what I said before, but this is largely my thought process behind it. What if you have more girls and you don't necessarily have other relatives you want to honor? You're using FOUR people for one child. It may limit your choices in the future. And yeah - it kind of puts a lot of pressure on your child that they HONOR four people.

And the cynical side of me peeks out too- I'm also wondering "are you doing this because you really want to, or are you doing this so that no one's feelings are hurt?".

This is pretty.

Anna Lynn Grace would be ok, too. She could have a double first name or 2 middle names. Either of those would be preferable to Annalyn, IMO.

I agree that there's no reason to go crazy squishing all 4 grandmas into one name.

I like Anna a lot, but Annalyn much less. I'd be very careful with any girl's name that almost contains anal.

Is this really a thing? I'm not named after anyone and neither is DH or DD. It's not a tradition in our families, so I have no experience with this and I'm curious. If you're named after someone, do you feel pressure to honor them? In what way?

It seemed like a weird statement to me too.  I am named after my great grandma but I never felt pressure to "honor" her.
