Injections for Round 2 of IVF in Jan

Since we have already been through this once, I want to make this time easier.  Last time I got bruised up pretty badly on my stomach.  I was instructed to do shots along my stomach in a smiley face style from one side moving a little more each night.  Some days there would be a small mark, other days, very large nasty looking bruises.  I asked a nurse if I could do ice packs last time and she said it wasn't a good idea.  Said that it could possibly prohibit the meds from moving appropriately.  Anyone have any good advice??  Thanks!!! I alternated sides each day.  I did Lupron, follistim, and Menopur.  I bruised from Menopur every single time.  Try not to put too much pressure on the needle and inject slowly.  Unfortunately, you may just be a bruiser!  At least it isn't bathing suit weather, right?
Me: 28; DH: 35 1/2008 -- Started TTC
3/2009 -- FD discovered at 17 weeks
1/2011 -- Lap and HSG reveal Stage IV Endo and both tubes blocked.
4/2012 -- Consult with RE for IVF#1 -- All bloodwork and SA are normal -- Repeat HSG - SURPRISE! Both tubes are open.
May, June, August 2012 -- IUI#1-3 -- Letrozole + Bravelle + Ovidrel trigger = BFN
9/2012 -- Lap#2 to remove endo and Hysteroscopy

IVF#1 (Long Lupron) -- 12/6 ER - 20R 11F * 12/11 ET - Transferred 2 excellent blasts *
Beta #1 79.7 * Beta #2 240 * It's a GIRL!!

I'm sure it's different for everyone-but if I pushed it in fast it hurt less and there was no bruising (the whole time I only bruised once and that is when I went slow). I was on gonal-f and ganeralix.
TTC naturally since Nov 2010. Diagnosed with PCOS in June of 2012 Started seeing a RE June 2012 HSG showed a block left tube Hubby's SA showed a slightly low count everything else ok Three rounds of Clomid/IUI-all three rounds IUI were cancelled because follicles never matured. Starting injections for IVF Dec. 1st. Praying for the Christmas gift of a lifetime!!! 11/30 Baseline U/S and bloodwork-everything looks great! 12/1 Start Stims 12/11 ER 16R 7M 7F 12/16 ET 12/26 Beta #1 364 12/28 Beta #2 758 12/31 Beta #3 2249 12/31 Ultrasound showed...TWINS!!!!!! 2/4 Ultrasound showed one baby with HR of 174 and one angel baby. We are heartbroken. It's a girl! Due Sept. 4th BabyFruit Ticker

When DH gave my injections I bruised but not when I did them. I think he was pinching to hard. So I guess I'm saying make sure your not pinching to hard lol. HTH

I alternate sides as well....I always start on the right side so that I don't forget what side is up for that night. Also, it seemed to help me if I didn't put too much thinking into the injection, just "one , two, three, poke!!". The more I thought about it the more I'd wind up doing a half poke , ouch!!

March 2012--Clomid --No response-Straight to injects!
April & May 2012-- IUI#1 & #2 = BFN
July 2012- IVF#1 cancelled
September 2012-IVF#1.2--BFN
November 2012- IVF #2 --BFN
January 2013- IVF #3-- BFFN
February 2013--Found a new RE but first back to the Endocrinologist for more diagnostic testing
Absolutely no idea when we can cycle again...looking into DE as well if IVF#4 fails again
PAIF/SAIF encouraged...give me some hope!!

Ars- Thank goodness it isn't bathing suit weather! It was this summer though, thankfully the only pools I was in were my neighbors and my parents and they both knew! :)

Crystal-  I think you might be on to something.  My DH did mine and he was so slow and careful (which is very sweet) I think I may tell him this time to just GO! :)

Trixie- You also might be right. He went very slowly and probably pinched too hard too!  When is your Beta? I read your siggy!

Make sure you do the shots in a fast, darting motion. If you don't have much pudge, you may need to pinch at first to get a good amount of fat, but let go of the pinch once the needle's in. And don't pinch too hard.

The important thing is to make sure the injection's in the fat, not the muscle, and that you're going quickly but not forcefully.

TTC #1 for about 3.5 years
ME: 37, PCO, immune issues?, teflon uterus (my added diagnosis)
HIM: 38, Perfect. (Showoff.)
Month before starting Clomid, spontaneous pregnancy. m/c at 7 weeks and D&C.
Four months of Clomid, one IUI, with Intralipid each cycle: BFNs all
IVF 1.0 July 2012 -- Lupron, bravelle, menopur, estrogen, progesterone supps, intralipid. 14 ER, 14 fertilized, 1 blast transferred, 2 on ice. BFN
FET 1.1 -- 10/2, transferred our 2 blasts. Lupron, PIO, estrogen, baby aspirin, prednisone. BFN.
IVF 2.0 December 2012 -- Bravelle, Menopur, Ganirelix, Prednisone, Metformin, estrogen, progesterone supps. 22 eggs retrieved on 12/14, 17 mature, 15 fertilized. OHSS anticipated so ET cancelled. 3 embryos frozen.
Broke up with old RE. Moving on to new dude. Maybe the change of scenery will be just the trick for our frosties. On BCPs for possible April FET.

Yup...either side of my belly button but the total opposite side. When I'm getting into the cycle and can't remember what side I'm on it really helps that I always start on the right side. I'd imagine I look pretty silly patting my belly in my bathroom...."Saturday, Sunday , Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...ok back on the right side tonight" LOL
