Please recommend your video camera

We are interested in investing in a video camera for our family.  We are looking to spend less than $400 and would like a tripod option as well.  I prefer to make purchases like this based on word of mouth and reviews.  Please recommend one that you have, use and love!

that is a large budget for a video camera! 
We have this one that was $100 and it works great.

The camera on the iPhone is pretty awesome.  I'm pretty sure you can buy a tripod for it too.

My iPhone! It's always with me, easy to post or send right to family. I would spend $$$ these days on a DSLR but not a video camera when it's so easy to use
