Full-Figured Mom Check-In

Hi ladies!

Just wanted to touch base with everyone before I head over to the third-tri board (wow!)

I'm not having a great day. Feel a lot of guilt for gaining back the 80 lbs I lost (and so quickly). Relationship isn't doing well, and I'm exhausted. Didn't get everything I wanted done in the house before I entered my third trimester.

I may have eaten horribly today, but at least I went on a walk. Tomorrow I'm hoping to combine the eating healthier + walking. :)

How are you ladies doing?!

Well this is my first time seeing this post.

But since I fit the title I am going to join in.

I have ben feeling better however today has just been a horrible day!! It started last night when I got really sick feeling, headaches and cramping. As the day goes on I am feeling a little better. I still dont have an appetite.

Doesnt help tht one of my girls is getting sick, she has started running a fever and threw up. Hopefully it was a fluke and she will not actually be sick.

Good Luck ladies!

Can I be a part of this?  I've got curves in all the right (and wrong) places...lol.  I've put on 25 lbs and I'm terrified to see my midwife tomorrow.  Shes going to lecture me and I'm just dreading the feeling of humiliation.  I'm considering refusing to get on scale.  I've totally gotten into the holidays and have been eating sweets like crazy.  I'm nervous about being with family for Christmas and getting out of control.

Sorry that things are not ideal for you right now.   I wish you a happy, healthy holiday!

I dread the scale each appointment. I was told to try and LOSE weight over the last 4 weeks. During Christmas? Yeah right, buddy. Maybe after the new year.

That said - it is important to get on the scale, as much as we dread it. If any mom gain too much too quickly, it can be a sign of another condition. So, take it in stride. If she lectures you, ask for a referral to a nutritionist =)

I am also full figured and have not gained much which makes the dr happy.  I weigh myself often...everyday so I am fully aware of what I am gaining.  Prior to getting pregnant I had lost about 35 pounds and would prefer not to gain them back.  Last pregnancy I did okay looking to do better this time.

Hey ladies! Can I join in too?

This is my 3rd pregnancy and I still haven't lost the weight from the first one. I'm actually heavier now than when I delivered DS (whoops!).

So far I am down 12 pounds since getting pregnant. I am eating healthier but the main reason is because I get full very quickly. I can only eat about a cup or so worth of food at a time. I'm hoping that my 12 pound loss will help me only be up a bit from my starting weight this time around but I've got a loooong way to go.

My Dr hasn't said a thing to me about my weight which I'm grateful for so hopefully that continues!

I didn't know this thread was a thing but hell, I fit the bill. At my last appointment just after Thanksgiving I'd only gained 1.5 pounds. Gaining a lot of weight during this pregnancy is a huge concern of mine, but the OB I have isn't worried. She said that as long as my weight gain is reasonable, then there's nothing to worry about.

Hello ladies!

I haven't noticed this thread before but happy to join in!

I'm struggling with how much weight i've gained so far....i'm at the heaviest I've been ever.  I have been restricted with what i can do for exercise since finding out I was pregnant which has been tough as I was doing well before hand with working out regularly but now I'm just a bump on a log.  I'm scared to get on the scale tomorrow at the OB's office!

I also just found out I failed my 1 hr glucose test...so i'm feeling sorry for myself for being overweight at the moment.  Darn horomones!

I definitely fit in this group. I had lost a lot of weight before my wedding but managed to gain back abour 40lbs before I got pregnant. My goal is to not gain much during pregnancy since I already gained all my pregnancy weight BEFORE i got pregnant. oops. So far, so good. I'm only up 2 or 3 lbs since conception. I attibute a lot of my pre-pregnancy weight gain to beer/alochol. Cutting that out of my diet has really helped me maintain.

I've got a dr. appointment tomorrow. Here's hoping the scale looks good!

I'm feeling pretty good. At my 12 week I was down 6lbs, and gained a few of it back at my 16 week. i'm still down 2lbs, and no weight gain yet. I haven't weighed myself lately, I think doing that would make me overly conscious of what im eating. Plus, it's the holidays, and I want to eat my cookies! I recently lost 40lbs for my wedding, by exercising, eating healthy and calorie counting.

I would definitely get a nutritionist to try to help you get back on track. If you slowly change your diet now, it'll be an easier transition when your eating healthy AND exercising after the baby's born.

Good luck to all the plus size mamas out there!

I am overweight and had lost about 15lbs before my wedding but slimmed down a lot and as soon as the wedding was over I put the weight back on. I have lost 5lbs so far and my Dr. doesn't seem concerned. But struggling with weight my whole life it is kind of a fear to gain 30 or 40 lbs when Im pregnant.

This is a great thread!  It is nice to know I am not alone. I have stayed about even this far and am very thankful.  I get full faster, but I am also feeling better, so I hope I dont get to eating too much. I dont go back until Jan. 21, so I have a long while.

GL to all of you! and let's keep this check-in going!

I generally lurk on this board, but thought I would chime in since I am, as my MFM says, "a larger woman."

Last visit I had gained appx. 8 or 9 pounds.  The MFM says that he doesn't want me to gain more than 20-25 pounds although I am carrying twins.  I have a different goal...I want to stay under a certain number.  Mainly b/c I am terrified of going over that number, but also b/c of my back and joints...I already have a hard time due to back pain and I don't want to make it worse by gaining a whole lot of weight on top of the babies.

Other than that, everything is going pretty well now that I'm in my 2nd tri and I am praying I will find out what we are having at my visit today!

I am soooo in on this thread! I lost 65lbs in 6 months (Medifast) then found out I was pregnant! I stopped my diet for 3 months and because I SUCK at eating properly, gained 25 back :( I have NO willpower and eat whatever I want. The OB doesnt know that I gained anything back so they are starting me out at 207... Wonder what I will be at appt tomorrow...

You and I are in the same boat, my dear. :) I moved on to the third tri board today, but I'll gladly check in over here once a week! This thread is pretty new. Someone posted about feeling left out as a fuller pregnant woman, and I thought "That just isn't far - I feel the same way."

Fear not, ladies! You are not alone, and we can make it through this rough patch (weight wise, that is) together.

It is SO stinkin' hard to restrict calories during Christmas. But so far, I'm starting to eat much better. I lost my will power and with a bout of depression (that lasted 5 months) I was eating fat food 1-2 times a DAY for a while. I'm now only eating it once or twice a week, which is helping slow my gain a lot. I'm just trying to be reasonable.

i just take the day as it comes.. if I want a few cookies after dinner, than i'm eating cookies after dinner! I'm not really calorie counting right now, but I know what I should and shouldn't eat. Plus, i'm definitely not eating as much as I did.

i saw my FIL's gf at my nieces birthday the other day, and the first thing she said to me was "wow, are you overeating? It looks like your gaining weight!". No, I haven't gained any weight, but my mid-section is getting bigger because, well, i'm pregnant, and the baby is growing! I wanted to punch her.

i feel like because of her, I need to hide my chunk bump (especially since i'm seeing her next week for Christmas, ugh). I don't want to; I should flaunt it, but I know she'll say something again to me, and I swear if she does, I will flip out on her. Whether its Christmas or not, she needs to know its not OK to bring up my weight, and she needs to mind her own flucking business.
