? for working moms

We were actually home quite a bit this weekend (as opposed to on the go like most weekends) but LO did not want to nurse throughout the day.   He did fine nursing first thing in the morning and before bed as we do on weekdays, but no real interested in the boob any other times through the day, so I ended up bottle feeding him instead. Has he just gotten so used to the bottle during the day so no interest in the boob?  Anyone else?

I do not have this problem, but my first thought goes to trying for more skin to skin time. I know our kids are getting more active so this could be difficult, but maybe you could try it while you are bottle feeding him?

I must be the terrible mom that doesn't offer a bottle when I'm home. Saturday, he wanted to nurse every 2.5/3 hours. Sunday, he went a lot longer, specifically in the morning - very odd, but he never showed hunger cues. When he was teething, he went on a slight nursing strike, but even then, I didn't offer a bottle. I knew he wasn't going to starve himself. I guess if it had gone on for a very prolonged time, I would eventually offer a bottle. I go on a pumping strike on the weekends though!

We don't have this issue since she gives a big problem with taking a bottle when I'm not around anyway. So no bottles for her. DH gives liquids through sippy cup. When I get home she gets nursed.

I guess we are opposite of this.  I pump at work and on weekends she seems completely distracted when I try to nurse, so I just pump.  I gave up trying to make her nurse.  It is easier for me to just pump.  Also when she does nurse, she doesn't "drain" them so I end up having to pump afterwards anyhow.  Makes more sense to me to just pump and be done with it!

I had this problem in general, I think she was more interested in the bottle than boob. I think the boob wasn't coming out fast enough for her. She was getting distracted and barely wanting to nurse for more than a couple minutes for weeks. I started getting less and less from pumping and then a couple weeks ago got the stomach flu and not pumping for a couple days I couldn't get anything out, so I stopped nursing. Sadly she hasn't even been that upset about it which leads me to believe she preferred the bottle.

DS is trending towards that too.

I can get him to nurse after he wakes from a nap if we are in a dark quiet room...otherwise, he is too distracted by life to stop and nurse.

I have an IRL friend who is on baby #4 and she switches to EP at about 7 months when they get so active and distracted - especially when the older kids are being loud.

You're not the only one. I don't even think about offering bottles on the weekend.I look forward to the break from the pump.  If he wants to eat he will nurse. Of course he's also in the midst of a bottle strike so I couldn;t if I wanted to.
