Any tips how to get baby to sleep same time each night?

DS has been going down at all different times...9, 930, 830.... How can I get him to be more consistent? He is usually super cranky after 730 so I am assuming he is overtired. I did try to put him down earlier a couple times when he would start dozing off and he screamed so I ended up trying again later at night. I feel like at this age (6 weeks) DD was already on a consistent routine. Any tips? I really want to get him going to bed earlier. TIA!

Do the same routine each night... same time... they will get the hang of it.  Even if you put them to sleep awake.

I am in the same boat. I would love to get my 7 wk DD on a better sleeping schedule at night. We have a routine though.

Regardless of when my LO has feed during the day, I always feed her at 8:00pm, bath her (every second day), cuddle with her and read a book, and then she falls asleep and I put her down. I think consistency really helps, however, every child is different. So what works for me, may not work for you necessarily. I would try the last feeding at 7:30 each night and see how it goes from there.

do you wake her if she is napping to start the routine? If she has been up already for awhile do you keep her up and risk her being overtired?

I am just curious because I would like to start a routine for my LO but she feeds/naps at different times every day and if I suggested waking her up in the evening my husband would probably lock me out of her room.

We do the same routine every night, however, we don't necessarily do it at the same time. We feed lo on demand and follow her cues. At 11 weeks she is just now starting to get more consistent with the time she goes down for the night. She usually goes down around 9:30 but sometimes it does vary half an hour either way.

I let her do what she wants in the evening, if she sleeps, I wake her. If she's up, I let her stay up. I may take a little bit for  your little one to get used to it, but it's great once she does! So sometimes, my LO eats at 6:00pm, falls asleep and then I wake her at 8:00pm to eat again. Her eat times vary a bit during the day too. But for our sanity, I love the sleep time routine. Then you can kind of make plans to do stuff in the evening. Heck, it's even nice to be able to get a babysitter and go to a late movie!
