Non-Stress test tomorrow

What should I expect during my NST?
Is there anything specific I should be on the lookout for?

Any tips would be great, thanks :)

First they gave me water and baby didnt move much. Then they gave me cranberry juice and LO moved all over the place so I'd say definitely take juice if they give you a choice. Other than that it was very easy and no big deal.

I have them twice a week; they always recommended that I eat beforehand.  Not necessarily immediately, but don't skip a meal or anything, and maybe have a snack if your last meal was a couple hours ago.  The only time my LO took longer than normal to "pass" the test was the time I didn't eat my normal lunch and planned to have it afterward.

Other than that they are the easiest thing in the world. For mine they strap on two monitors, one for baby's heart and one for contractions, hand me a button to push every time I feel her, and then I sit there and watch TV for 20 minutes. They also take my blood pressure during it.

I actually look forward to them, they're relaxing lol.

I go once a week. First I have a u/s to measure fluid levels. Then I sit in the comfiest chair ever, 2 monitors are strapped on. I literally have no instructions. Nothing about eating or drinking beforehand nothing. I don't even click a button when I feel her move. The tech just looks at the strip and makes sure we've had at least 2 "accels" (heart rate accelerations). They're looking for the heart rate to go up 15 bpm for at least 15 secs. And baby needs to have 2 of these within 20 minutes. Last time they took a mini handheld vibrator (literally, I'm not kidding) and buzzed my tummy to get her to move. My understanding is (at least at my hospital) that if she doesn't do this they move me back to the U/S and do a biophysical profile but so far so good. I have a wiggly baby, it's nice to sit there and relax for 20 mins and just listen to her move and her heart beat.

Nah, they just recline you in a comfy chair and strap some instruments to your belly, and you lay there for a little while until they get readings.

My only advice would be to make sure you do eat beforehand. You don't want to go hungry, so the baby is active.

They are so easy! I had my last one last week! If I had a non reactive (baby moved too much or not enough) then I'd have a BPP to check fluid levels/breathing etc.

As long as you don't get bored easy, you're fine. I had to hold my monitor down on her heartbeat every single time because otherwise they couldn't get the heartbeat and it was a pain. My fingers would lock up. And I have Restless Legs Syndrome so sitting for more than 30 seconds would bother me.

But otherwise, they're relaxing. I actually started to fall asleep at last weeks because I was so bored.

I get them 2x a week. Have been since 32 weeks. Did from 32 weeks to when my son was born at 37 weeks with my first too. No big deal. They are just watching for the baby's heart rate to go up and down properly during movement. 2 big movements w/in 20 minutes of each other & a good heart rate change during those 2 movements it's what they are watching for. They will also take your BP & watch for contractions. I'm normally out of there in 1/2 an hour because my kid moves like crazy in the AM (which is when I always schedule mine for).

ETA: I do eat my breakfast & drink a diet soda on my way to the hospital before each test. It's a good possibility that it helps him wake up and move around! They will offer you water and juice or diet soda (for those of us with GD that can't have juice) to help get things moving too.
